@aesndk Medal Of Honor was nothing like COD, it was a Battlefield clone and a crap one at that. Maybe the single player had similarities if thats what you mean. And your 2nd comment made no sense whatsoever. Is it just me though or does the excessive swaying of the gun seem like it will get really annoying after a while. I know its promoting the idea that you are an untrained civilian but if its a pain to have it swinging around like that then I'd rather lose that bit of authenticity in favor of a less annoying game mechanic.
i dont understand, every FPS game coming to stores in the moud of call of duty try to copy this game and the developers of the game forget their own ideas(especialy the bright ones)this is the same thing that happened to MEDAL OF HONOR instead of bringing their own ideas they just focused on bringing a call of duty sort of game.lets hope this game dosent do the same
granted the singleplayer isnt looking too unique, but this is a tiny part of the game, not to mention most players will more than likely focus on the multiplayer, i think spamming comparisons to Cod and Battlefeild arnt helping anyone, asides from maybe some thumbs from the haters. Its amazing that some shooters have the same weapons as other modern shooters, or that some fps are infact in first person.... wow, cod right there. As for battlefeild? as much as they might like to be the only ones that focus on larger scale combat they're not, there have been plenty of games, frontlines, battlefront, hell even halo has invasion now. Why is it that every new game out has to be compared to what the 10 year olds get the mothers to buy for them?
@darthkillerduck it is fine to bash the AI with only two weeks to release. At this point the game is finished and they are generating "buzz" for shipping/pre-order sales. With less than one month to go (when the video was released) major over hauls on this is a weak pipe dream. Still multiplayer may be good. Waiting to see more though.
boring with a lot of archaic cliches and no new features!!!! just a casual FPS that is better to be used as a bonus, stuck to the completed packs...those guys just learned how to talk about their products not to create something convincing...WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!
why is everyone rating this game on a pre-release demo of a game tht's still development? sure the AI's a bit bad, but they're still working on it. glitches are still being ironed out and this is only one mission. it doesnt mean the rest of the game is gonna be exactly the same, so before u start complaining about how the game sucks, play it first
This game would've been really good if it came out like 3 years ago around COD:MW. But now it's just...old. Not just in a "oh another modern shooter" way--but the set pieces, the graphics and textures, even A.I. pathfinding--every thing is so far behind the curve its almost sad. ...yeesh, they even used the same 3 year-old bad enemy gameplay mechanics and animations: *Shoot at enemies-supposedly trained soldiers-whose in cover but somehow left all but his head unexposed.* *fight for cover with wall-dressing teammate AI. that neither give, nor take, real damage* *Trigger set-piece/explosion by passing a gate/shooting a one-off toy, also spawning enemies* Rinse, Repeat Are those...exploding barrels?! lol damn how quaint. Ya know how some studios KNOW that the movie they made is bad and refuse to put out screeners to critics so they can at least trap some viewers into checking it out? Well, I think Kaos Studios will look back on this wishing they didn't show this...
dude this was kinda dumb. sorry if that insults anybody that preordered it but it looks like a pretty standard shooter we've all seen many times before. hopefully the multiplayer is good. im a fan of big team games :]
i love how the vid has (Pc) on it, but it's a xbox demo. Plus this really does look like cod with different skins. I've lost, interest unless there is a demo this is a no for me.
Hmmmm, this level looks VERY cliche, and boring in a way. I wont hash on the story (which I like) or realism because I really don't get games for realism. I will however like to note that the AI is bugged, the enemies look wimpy, the graphics range from sub-par to decent, and based off of my own empirical senses on this level... this game looks dull and boring on the campaign. Luckily the multilayer impressed me enough to pre-order, but it WILL lose points for a dumbed down single player. This could have just been a bad level to pick so who knows how good it is. This game is no Call of Duty, no Crysis, no Halo, and certainly NOT Battlefield like it makes itself out to be. I say pick it up only if your a hard-core FPS junky, or if you want something to tie you over till Battlefield 3 comes out, or the next unannounced CoD game we KNOW is coming out. Still would've been good, but I'm calling it. I wont be disappointed like Medal of Dishonor was, so I know this is not a game changer game now. Hopefully if they make a sequel, they'll work harder and update all the issues found in this game.
@skiergamer95 i cant speak to what an actual battlefield sounds like because i've never been on one, but I have some amateur knowledge of sound and I agree that some remarkable work was done on BBC2. I love the pops and warping tones that the explosions create. Its so much fun when it happens and i've spent so much time starting up the single player campaign just so i can blow stuff up at varying distances and places to see how different it sounds. Regarding korea taking us on, i dont know, i think i can suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy the scenario if its fun or interesting. the visuals as seen here seem underwhelming, but thats not everything. not a day one buy for me, but i'm still hoping for a decent game.
@inka_rob MW2 has unrealistic gun noises. I know people who have served in a war and they think its a joke. Battlefield is the closet we have to real war. The sound effects in it are phenomenal. My uncle is a Vietnam vet and he says the sound effects in it the most realistic in games.
I said this long time ago when I saw the first look at Homefront and eveyone gave me a million thumbs down. The plot and story is all great if you can live it up with the graphics and gameplay. I would still be waiting for Crysis 2. Worth it.
@ryan_halo2 I dont know why you think you are wasting your breath. most people agree with me that this game doesnt look that good. Out of the 6 FPS games in the next 6 month I bet you money that this games sells less than ANY OF THEM. brink, duke forever, killzone 3, bulletstorm, dues ex. real nice thuming me down. who else would it be. your the only one with thumbs down in this message stream. and I am not talking about the COD franchise. I am talking about Modern Ware 1 and 2. two games which infity ward did not want part of the COD franchise. and they didnt even have the COD name until activition made them put it on there. what ever. this game doesnt look special at all. I am tired of wasting my finger energy.
@inaka_rob The Call Of Duty Franchise is an arcade shooter if anything, things like ArmA and Operation Flashpoint are combat sims. Have you even watched any of the other trailers? If you had you'd know that it's not just Korea but a Pan-Asian army invading a disorientated USA. Now i'm not gonna waste my breath anymore. It's Fiction for a reason.
Oh and I would like to add: KOREA invading the USA. that is more ridiculous that the plot line in Resistance or Duke Nukem. They dont have enough people and power to invade japan, they are not going to take the entire USA. if you put both koreas together it is only 70 million. compared to 300 in the usa. take nukes out of the equation, lets say they somehow get better weaopons. just from shear man power we would win. it would be like the USA occupying china. 1 billion vs 300 million. isnt going to happen.
@ryan_halo2 I think its the closest thing to a military shooter we have. modern warfare 1 and 2 lookes REAL!!! thats is one thing. It is closer to photo realism than any FPS I have (that includes black ops) The guns sounded real. or rather they soudned what I thought they would sound like in real like. This is something most games fail on miserably. For some reason all the tretacrch COD titles like Black ops have TERRIBLE gun sounds. all the guns sound like paintball guns or something. they dont sound like guns. but that is true of most games that use modern day guns. For me Modern Warfare felt like a GUN simulator. If I wanted to know what a gun sounded like and felt like shooting then I would recomdend modern warfare over any other game. so yeah. I called it a real combat sim. Homefront doesn't look ANYWHERE close to photo realistic like Modernwarfare. The guns and HUD and info that is avalibe on the screen and look of the guns tells me this is not going to put much emphasis on guns.
I would not say nothing new here I would say nothing good here the graphics dose not look good the A.I. is stupid and obviously the missions looks boring
BORING!!! nothing new here at all!! nothing pops out as speical. doesnt seem to put much enfisisse on weaopons, so its not like a real combat sim like Modern Warfare. Doesnt look anywhere near as good as killzone or any of the last COD or HALO. this is going to be another Metro 2033 or Singulatiry. Cool, worth playing through. but wait for bargin bin prices. I already bought bulletstorm and killzone. If I had to choose between this and Brink. BRINK ALL THE WAY.
Grief! What cover? The guy's talks about being "defensive" and basically waltzes through this demo like he's the Terminator. Previous demos also suggest this game is going to be WAY too easy and non-tactical. Hope I'm wrong because it's always nice to see new games (non-sequels) do well and become established players in a really crowded shooter market this year. My gut feeling is that Homefront will be squeezed out by Bulletstorm, Crysis 2 and Brink in the first half of the year. OF Red Rising also on the radar and looking pretty punchy in demos.
