I have had no problems whatsoever streaming games from my Xbox to my laptop. I also had it set at the highest quality. I now play most of my games streamed so I can watch shows and sports on my tv.

I've never regretted choosing a PS4 over Xbone but after this and the backwards compatibility, it's got me thinking.

@Thathanka: you should get on the xbone bus, so far it's been awesome and its exclusives are great (like halo mcc, sunset overdrive, halo 5, gears 4, forza horizon 2, forza 6). I wanted a PS4 yet xbone's exclusives convinced me and the performance is excellent

later in the video they are talking about playing Windows games(Kerbal) on their TV like it would be some awesome NEW experience.

please don't tell me they work for a game site and don't know any modern tv will connect to any modern graphics card. shit, i used a 32" 1080p hdtv as a monitor for a couple years.

@elessarGObonzo: I used to connect my laptop to a massive 72" Box TV. It was a horrible experience. But on a 32" Flatscreen, it works wonders.

was this a game already running 60fps? if not i don't see how streaming could boost anything. it's not actually being processed by your PC in any way is it, just video streams?

@catsgomeowmeow: Then there is a problem with your hardware or configuration. Look at this thread--dozens of people talking about how well it works. Your experience is not typical.

So when doing this my controller is connected to the pc, right? I know the controller can do that, but I have never tried it. Can I use the default Xb1 mic while doing this?

Hhmm.. Might have to check it out. Doesn't seem that useful to normal gamers, but as a married father of 2, this allows me to play Xbox1 games while my kids are hogging the TV. Sounds cool.

@therealeu: On the driver download page provided by Microsoft, it says only the controller works with computers, not the mic plugged into the controller. It's a shame, but what can you do?

@therealeu: I tried plugging a mic into the controller connected to my Surface but nothing happened, however connecting a mic directly to the Surface works. The surface's built in mic also worked.

@therealeu: Yes, you can just plug in your Xbox controller via USB. It should download drivers automagically. If it doesn't you can find the drivers on microsoft's website. I doubt the mic will work, but don't quote me on that. I think you need to plug a mic directly to your PC , but It's worth a try.

@Maj_Wood: The point is to allow you to free up the TV for others to use or be able to go outside with your tablet/laptop and continue playing by the pool or wherever.

@admb2484: I imagine it largely comes down to connection quality. Some people probably have unreasonable expectations given their ISP/Speeds/Ping.

Even if they do streaming the other way, the point MS is missing is that you need to be able to match the Steam Sale. Everyone I know that uses Steam waits until the big sales to buy their games. While I'll say that I've gotten some good deals from MS lately on the One, it's not as far reaching as Steam Sales are.

@dlmcamaross: Sony and MS are getting better sales. As we get deeper into this gen of console game we are going to see more worthwhile digital sales.

Streaming quality is great for me, but the other feature I guess not mentioned is simply streaming your cable tv from the xbox to your pc. I can even change channels from there lol. Ofcourse the living room is centre of entertainment, but goes well with a pc in the far room I like to call my man cave :)

@dynamiq: That's not really a big deal though, as most cable companies let you watch tv through your computer anyway, just by logging in to your account on their site.

@dino7c: I can see a lot of reasons for it. Especially with the mobile devices going to Windows 10.
First, like you said, PC Hardware. The processing is done on the xbox mostly so really you just need a decent home network. (Really your download and upload speed from your ISP don't much make a difference, you can do this with no internet.

Second.. Mobile (YUS) In my opinion it's cool that I can play on my surface. Of course it was cool that I could play playstation on the Sony Xperia too (Though a bit lackluster)

Initially I didn't care about this feature, but now that I use it it is damn good. It works flawlessly for me, I guess you just need to have the right wifi if you're streaming to a wireless device.

I gotta say I had no idea how useful and awesome the streaming feature would be! I absolutely love it. It works pretty damn well. The only real drawbacks are the pixel resolution is cut by more than half while playing and rarely the controller will bug out but otherwise it's silky smooth. I also think some games may run better than others. But there is basically no latency to speak of. Performance is highly optimized and while it may look a little fuzzy, the games are perfectly playable and still fun. It's also really convenient when you have a media center in your living room but for whatever reason you can't use the TV or you don't want to leave your room.

Can I use Mouse+Keyboard setup for playing xbox games on my PC.I can use

controller on either xbox or pc,but for me the biggest purpose of xbox

streaming to PC is so I can play xbox 360 and Xbox one exclusives via

Mouse and Keyboard, first person and third person shooters, other third

person games,adventure games etc.

@zlaya: Controller only. If you try to stream without an Xbox controller hooked up it tells you to connect one and try again and you can't interact with the console without one. Using keyboard and mouse vs. controller players would be a huge advantage in Multiplayer so I don't see them allowing that in FPS at least.

@nerdsosky: It doesn't make much sense for them not to allow keyboard+mouse controls on Xbox One. Think about it. Players on PC can choose between a ton of different controllers or keyboard and mouse. Now the majority of PC gamers use the keyboard and mouse, but in instances where a controller works better, they'll use that instead. There is no real advantage to using a keyboard and mouse over a controller because it just comes down to skill at using whatever they have.

@nerdsosky: That's bad, really bad.I don't play multiplayer, and as I said there are people that with this feature could play all those xbox exclusives with M+K otherwise there is not much benefit from streaming. And it would me easy to divide players with M+K from those with controllers in multiplayer,or at least show who is using what in matches etc and limit a game to one peripheral.

@zlaya: The benefit for me comes from streaming it over the internet. I've set my home network up so that I can stream my xbox to my work PC and play my xbox one like I'm home sitting on the couch.
