I still pick up Goldeneye (and Starfox 64) and play a few levels here and there. Starfox 64 will always be a lot of fun, I don't care who you are.

BF1942 and BFV were the most fun, IMO.

BFBC2, is the game that brought me back to the battlefield series RIP, BF3 was great, but BF4 is some how a lot better and a lot worst, still there isnt anything like it out there.

BF2 at this point is all about nostalgia value, I tried the game and it only made me miss the features I have learned to take for granted with later installments.

One thing that all battlefield games do which is completely wrong, is bullet spread. In real life a weapons inaccuracy is always fault of the carrier, not the weapon itself. A bullet is ALWAYS going to go where the barrel is pointed regardless of how much it is jumbling around in the carriers arms. So in real life recoil/bullet spread is not the guns fault, its the carriers inability to control it well.

To see what im talking about, load up battlefield 2, 3, or 4, and stand 30ft away from a wall, use a full auto weapon with very little recoil like an SMG and unload on a specific spot on the wall. You will notice you are able to control the weapons recoil very well and keep the iron sight aimed on that exact spot on the wall. So in real life all the bullet holes should be pretty spot-on with where you were aiming right? But because the battlefield dev's are stupid, you will see the bullet holes 15ft away from where your iron sights were aimed.. Curving bullets? Whatt

@dannydopamine8 i'm sure they're aware of all this, they just choose to sacrifice realism for longevity and they're certainly not the only series that does it. plenty of players hate the idea of being sniped by an m16 especially in a game with maps that take forever to traverse. not me though I love it. :D

Nade spam and Special Forces weapons ruined the vanilla game. Medics running the G36E to be more precise. Fucking thing fires like a lazor beam with no recoil, absolutely destroyed any sort of balance to the game.

Goldeneye 64 is not dated at all. I still play it to this day. The campaign is still the best fps campaign out there and ten times more addictive and epic than the campaign in BF2. BF, COD, and all modern fps games should learn from goldeneye.

@Dredcrumb9 the aiming system and hit detection is really what sets GoldenEye apart. It might not be super realistic unless you shoot from the hip, but it sure was satisfying to master (assuming you turned the red target reticle and autoaim off).

@BrassBullet @Dredcrumb9 I thought the maps and the way you can choose to go about objectives set it apart. Each difficulty unlocks new objectives and gives player access to new scenarios in each mission, as well as potential to unlock new content for the single player and multiplayer mode of the game. I also love the auto aim in goldeneye(manual aim is usually useless), makes mowing down enemies in goldeneye so much fun. Also, the way enemies grunt, scream, and react to each shot is amazing and I love how you can paint your targets red with bullets, which is pretty brutal for a t rated game. Still the most violent and bad@$$ 007 game ever released.

BF2 is not that great. The campaign is too linear and dumb. The only decent thing about it was the multiplayer. I also hated how it had destructible buildings, but you can't blow apart enemies or put holes in them, you just see a mist of blood from invisible wounds, and it's rated M. So what, is battlefield about shooting buildings? Are they the hostiles? I thought the human enemies were your primary target.

BF2/2142 and SOCOM II (PS2) are the online multiplayer experiences I will never forget. Seems when team play is the focus, that's where at least I have the most fun (I played plenty BC2 and Gears of War as well), but nothing since has since matched the pure joy of the aforementioned games, and with these ridiculous season passes and DICE selling you old maps, and releasing unfinished games, it'll never be that great again.

The thing that livened every. single. battefield game before BC2, BF3 and BF4 was the ability to offer mods.

I played well over 2000hrs of BF2, over 1400hrs in the helicopter. Then came Point of Existence 2 mod.

As with CoD United Offensive I still get overly great feelings of playing Battlefield 2. I will and have still played these games years later. I think BF2 needs a redux.

Gameplay improvements aside...the biggest reason why BF2 is my favorite is because I thought it had the BEST map design in the series.

I liked Battlefield 2 because you could play small MP maps against bots. I get sick of on line play and just want to kick around a bit (Same with 2142), and you cannot do that anymore.

I feel like asides from graphics Battlefield has been going downhill since Battlefield 1942 (not to be confused with 1943) ... 1942 was freak'in awesome as far as multi-player is concerned solo missions have been getting good in the newer ones though.

@mxgod BF2 was just an amazing online experience if you had a good squad to work with. The mods that were brought in basically fixed the game's mechanics and offered a much more balanced gameplay.

Wouldn't mind BF2 redone for next gen with 64 player modes and fully destructible buildings. It was fun on the pc, but did get a little annoying when you were matched up with some nasty campers who knew all the good spots.

bf2 was about teamwork to help your team win, and players skill was require to win. there was not bullshit weapons like lock on weapons or noob gadgets, you didn´t feel cheated by the game because weapons require skill to use. the gameplay was fun.

i hate bf3/bf4, the gameplay is a mess. bullshit weapons and gadgets, weapons are so easy to use, there is no skill, always feel cheated by the game. they are frustrating games. there is no teamwork. the only thing that makes bf3/bf4 battlefield games is the name on the cover. even the graphics are annoying, that dam sun and lensflares.

i was so excited for bf3, after bc games there would be finnaly a bf2 sequel. bf3 was the most disappointing game i ever played.

@Razor10000 The way I often describe my disappointment with BF3 is that it mostly just felt like a typical deathmatch, it didn't feel like a military battle anymore. I really gave it a shot, played it frequently to about 200hrs, and then that was it. I have considered trying it again, despite the design of the game maybe the playerbase makes it more like the older games now that most people will have moved on to BF4.

All I wanted from BF3 was a reskinned BF2, but sadly EA being greedy, wanting to make it accessible to my grandmother and the limits of the consoles, it was not crap but hardly BF. BF will never see its glory days again until we ditch these consoles and EA lets DICE do what they want.

meanwhile Bad Company 1 the BF game to actually change the series is the most over looked amazing game of the series. Its like talking about Dark Souls Dark Souls Dark Souls!!!! But forgetting to bring up Demons Souls. The game that not only started it all, but also did it better. Thats how I see BC1. Best of the series.

I think BC2 got more coverage because it plays more like COD.

Ironically I think PC ruined the this new approach to the series (for once). BC1 played phenomenally with Rush and 14v14. The maps and gameplay were designed 100% around that. BC2 and later didnt seem to be that way

Why the f... no one ever mentions about voice acting? I mean those MEC and US soldier sounds are printed onto my brain...

I mean especially those MEC sounds, though not being able to understand, were top-notch...
