Kinda Funny Talks About the New Last Guardian Trailer

Look, I can still play ICO and SotC and enjoy them immensely -- even with them having pretty much PS2 level graphics (re: HD editions). Heck, I can play NIER and have an amazing experience with a game that was a PS2/XBOX development shoe-horned into last gen. Graphics aren't everything... and, Ueda's games aren't known for amazing graphics, but highly stylized and iconic art direction.

After looking at the creature, I'm sure last gen couldn't provide the experience Ueda wanted. Sony was angry that they'd spent so much on a game that wasn't coming out and canned him... but when interest in the game didn't go away... and when Sony didn't have tons of yen to spend on new development... they went back to the well (and Ueda) and made it work. Glad they did. Now I can stop playing MAJIN AND THE FORSAKEN KINGDOM pretending it's TLG.

The story is that the game faced technical difficulties and had to be put on hold for a couple of years because they were waiting for ps4 tech and most of the team joined other teams to help finish games at Japan studio and they kept trying to make it work on PS3 but features had to be cut so Yoshida and Ueda decided Now that ps4 is available they can achieve they wanted. You both are game journalists yet you are so bad at your job gathering information that you should not speak of something you are ignorant of. There was no need to call the games overrated. Did you even finish sotc Colin?

Ueda himself left but agreed to finish it on contract basis. Who wouldn't leave after taking such a long time to make a game?

Now he has a small team and his own studio that is going to have more partnerships with Sony in the future for sure. Yoshida respects him enough and understands his creative vision that even if something really happend between them it's because of Ueda's desire for perfection. But it seems like they're good now.

I disagree. As good as it looks, it does feel like a late PS3 game, just updated with PS4's power.

--this is all kinda sad(this 'old development hell game' and the kickstarter 'development hell' funded by gamers)
--to me it says
--"we have NOTHING NEW to give you gamers(so lets go in the vaults and pull out something that was supposed to be good)"
--its like when a popular author doesnt have a new idea for a book
--so he goes and gets some old crappy book he never released to start with

--we are living in the cusp of a technological leap(like never seen EVER before)
--and what do gamers get?
--rehashed franchises and genres
--remnants of yesteryear
--and a bunch of unwanted motion capable crap
