Not for nothing, but I hear the same people complaining when they shut down game servers. Consumers want to spend money once and have that game last forever. Oh! And people loathe paying a subscription fee. Just listen to how people lament over being required to pay for PS Plus in order to play online games. So what's the solution? There has to be a compromise. I often hear lots of bitching and complaining, but very little real solutions. Why? Because we're seeing the solution.

@crazkanuk:

Solution to the server shut down: release the server tools for people to self-host (like they did in the past)

Solution to post-release monetisation - go look at Titanfall 2's model:
1) All paid items are cosmetic
2) All items can be purchased directly - no grinding, no shitty lootboxes. Consumer is free to pick and choose what they want to buy.

@crazkanuk: Shadow of War is a single player game...microtransactions at the expense of the game experience of a single player game is utterly EA (Retarded).

It's all down to the consumer, unfortunately there are a lot of idiots who keep spending and ruining it for everyone else. Same with DLC.

I refuse to buy any games with loot boxes. Done with the anti-consumer, greedy practices. I have 500+ games in my Steam library, and some on consoles, so i have games to hold me over until the terrible trend ends.

If you are reading this, you should stay away from AAA games.

They are really rotten these days.
