The game never had "mobile roots". It started off on the PS2 until Nintendo snapped it up and it has been hanstrung by weak hardware ever since. Monster Hunter World feels like the series is coming home and looks as though it will be the best in the series.

@Prats1993: Actually no. The game got its major boost from the PSP at least in the west b/c most players didn't play the original back in the PS2 days (which was awesome and kinda broken at same time) long before Nintendo snatched it up.

Nintendo basically just rode what the PSP already established. If anyone is to blame its us MH fans who played the PSP versions and gave Capcom a reason to just keep making them on handhelds.

Personally I like the franchise on handhelds, but yeah it will be nice to see a new home version of the game
