I think what people fail to see is, this live franchize is just a name, if you take off the title and let people play both games without seeing the ea or 2ksports logo 2k10 would win hands down, the problem is you have all these die hard live fans that wont give any other game a chance wethere its better or not. EA is in a bissness to make money so what do you do when you cant beat the competition, you buy them out so they cant make better games, like they did with thier football franchise they tried doing it a few years back but where unsuccessful, sure madden is the better football game but in comparison to what all pro football 2k9? EA over the years has become a giant in sports gaming only because of having exclusive rights to the majority of professional sports, they dont listen too consumer feedback they just do a roster update throw a couple of new features in like the crown waving towels or live "DNA" or anything else they can think up which will eventually be filled with bugs and what happens you spend less money developing your title so you end up with and up dated tittle thats not better tha your last. Example: Def Jam Fight For Ny to Def Jam Icon. EA has long abandoned what works and what will make thier games better, & only cares about the 120's per gamer that it will recieve for its the faithful madden and live fanbase, but when its all said and done 2k10 has overhauled thier engine every year to make thier game the most realistic basketball simulator up to date

OH i have one more bone to pick, Why are Live's ratings so terrible and then when you go to make them what they should be it takes for ever. and 2K your ratings are better but damn you guys are way to hard. no matter how bad you make players the games will stay play out right so make every player what they really should be. like damn in Live 09 Hedo Turk, was like a 76? like he's an 85 Ez, like other guys that should be an easy 75 -79 are like 65-70. like come on let's go,,, 2010 and for both companies let's make them the best ever, I'm gonna call these the real first nex gen basketball games so don't dissapoint me again please thank you.

I have been a 2K guy since 2K5 when Live jus got too complicated plus. I fell in love with the shot stick. But i have continued to buy Live jus for something different every once and a while. and they both have there pro's and cons. I think Live needs to re do the hole game cuz i really haven't been impressed with any of their games in years. But unfortunately 2K9 was a dissapointment for me as well, I compared it to being worse game for me since 2K4. honestly. But really like the person below me said for 2k it's really jus minor things, like it's almost impossible to do moves with 2k and somethings jus look a little to stupid. And as message to Both 2K and Live. This better be a true nex gen basketball game because i've been making excuses since 2008 for both of you guys. " Oh they just need a couple years to really make it next gen" well no more excuses, if you guys don't show me what a nex gen basketball game is this time around 2010 then i'm done. so please make these two games the best ever. thanx peace.

2k's Gameplay for basketball has always been better than live but the control has been retarded when u wanna break peoples ankles you have to do some retarded stuff with the stick but Live keeps it simple and easy to adapt to in like 10 mins and live graphics have been alot better. And dont you guys remember when Live was byfar the best basketball video game to buy I think Live is coming back to their dominance

yo guys you need to realize the differences between the two basketball games. 2k10- They focus on bringing an arcade styled game which also feels like your watching the game on tv and playing at the same time which always does good. Live 10- They try to make a real life simulation like when u play their games it feels like ur watching from the coaches perspective and has comentary. but the bad thing is that ea sports games normally spend TOO much time on like a couple of things then when the game comes out they reilize that they overlooked some stuff then the game ends up a bit crappier then it should have been. I sat and here and read as many messages as i could before i couldnt take no more i only look at llive every year just to know what it looks like cuz i already know its trash and its sad cause i can recall being a kid playin live on sega thinking it cant getno better but than 2k came along and brougt realism thats what its all about its suppose to look like nba basketball and the closer u get to that the better your game will be but unfortunately live is ettin further and further

nba live has definitely had better and easier controls than nba 2k games but I disagree with u on a couple of things nba live graphics blow the graphics make every player seem shiny and in the last nba live game there were so many glitches like catching someones shot when it hasnt even hit the rim yet and also you couldnt even hit a backboard shot these two games both have their ups and downs

NBA Live is and has always been the better game in regards to play control!!!! Now the graphics are on the level as well, 2k is soon to be done. The dribble stick rules the shot stick blows get a grip all you 2k crotch riders anybody can let the computer ball for them! Live 4 Life

Is this it? If this trailer is a indication of what NBA live 10 is gonna be like then i am not even gonna rent them both this year i will just buy 2k10. The 2 players diving for the ball would look good if i had not seen it in every 2k b-ball game dating back to 2k7. Lebron dunking the ball on 2 defenders and the body contact before the layup drops in are also things seen in every game i play of NBA 2k9. At 1:44 seconds of the video michael pietrus shoots a jumper over Bron and Bron does not turn around to look at the basket until after the shot has gone in and Anderson Vareajo is about to take the ball out. If that is authentic basketball then i don't know what i have been watching for the last 28 years. If you have been holding out for a better live i think this is the year every one should buy 2k10 just so that NBA live will have no choice but start there game from the ground up. One last thing what the hell is with the strobe effect in the trailer is that just a way to hide more of the choppy animations?

fill_mien211 I think you got it backwards. Live focuses on arcade style of play. 2k focuses more on realism. I saw Howard do about 2 fadeaway hook shots in that video. If Howard was capable of doing that, I don't think he would have been criticized for his lack of postal / midrange moves in the finals...Howard wishes he can do that. LeBron looked so cheesy. Look at the 2k10 screen shots. Huge difference. The last good NBA Live that came out was on PSone when they introduced the crossover. I used to be a live fan but 2K has never let me down since the first one. If EA focuses more on the gameplay rather than animation and corny dunks, we might have something. They put more effort into their Madden franchise than their NBA franchise. No wonder Live been a slack for the last decade.

ya EA is trying to catch up with the player mannerisms but they look so cheesy and congested. i.e. lebron's powder toss and dwight's shoulder shake fadeaway. P.S. 2K has Lebron's already. Don't let out your little secrets or they may take Dwight, and also the new Cleveland team intro.

this is sad. i am.. let me rephrase i was a fan of ea from super nintendo days up until live 09, even though i liked my few run-ins with 2k[03,05(tried 06 but players looked like lizards and funky controls)] i stuck with live. i got sick of same old arcade moves that everyone does(on live of course), decided to try 2k and suprisingly their graphics aren't enough to deter me from the good gameplay. as a matter of fact the graphics are better on 2k especially if you play in HD, i admit the colors could use a lil' jolt and they need to fix LeBron's appearance with his alien neck, but come on the overall graphics are a couple of steps away from perfect. and as far as gameplay there is no comparisons obviously. i prefer a fun game where you use strategy(making adjustments as subtle as changing defenses or offenses, according to how the other team is playing)to outplay your opponent, not just running around using pick n roll then trying to dunk on anyone with dwight howard, kobe bryant, or lebron james.

I was gonna to put my two cents in about Live vs 2K but I dont want to be a "jerk." Guess we cant say what we want about games anymore without a hostile attack.

EA focuses on real life simulation. 2K focuses on arcade-like play. I agree with kelseyjb. All the haters of Madden and Live should really invest in their own freaking company and start producing some product. 2K10 looks so awesome, i cant say the same for this game apparently.

people always fall for the Live Hype Videos, Madden looks more improved than LIVE this year, but 2k is the originator of all those new animations in BBall. I would give them credit if It wasn't done already by another developer. In a situation like this you either buy the NBA license to give yourself more time to make LIVE better,or keep doing what you call rebuilding LIVE from the ground up! EA if you want to make a better BBall you are going to have to redo, have crytek build you a hybrid that engine has really good physics never know.

you guys are right! the game is not bad.. BUT the existence of NBA 2K makes Live look bad because it is better in every sense.. i first bought live 09 because i thought, with all the pre release hype, i expected it to be better.. i played it for a few months then i switched to nba 2k9 because, like i said: it is better in every category:feature, gameplay, graphics, presentation,etc....

live isnt as bad as some would say, both are pretty good just open your eyes and play it

ive been playing live since 98 til now but ive played 2k since iverson was on the cover the last time i played 2k was 08 and it was like playing madden against my friend but im going to buy both live first

i have always loved Live but I think I have to rent both Live and 2K. I hear way too much about 2K to ignore it anymore. I have never like the feel of 2K but that was a while ago since I last played one. I tried the demo last year but still was not convinced.

I will say this. Overall 2K is better. In some cases tho, Lives AI is a little better. I think if you took the AI from Live and put it with 2K, seeing as they have everything else down pack and blow out Live, it would be an AMAZING game. I have had, literally, every live and March Madness up till 07. Then when MM didnt come out for PS3 on 07, I tried College Hoops and never looked back. I pray CH comes back and I hope 2K tweak the AI. If they did, sorry EA.
