@Xristophoros:

So you can have buttons for split joycons and two players. It has its positives and negatives.

@doctor_mg: They need to sell a separate joy con with a Dpad. That way you could have one left joy con for single player use, and one for multi-player use.

@doctor_mg: so why not release a separate d-pad joycon and give people the option? some games can't be played properly without a proper d-pad, such as super meat boy, etc. this needs to be addressed.

@Xristophoros: They probably will do that. I wouldn't be surprised to see they announce it in 2018.

Buy a pro controller in the meantime.

@trugs26:

well, i meant in portable mode. having a pro controller on you while on the go wouldn't be the most practical thing. not to mention, the pro controller is the most expensive controller on the market at around $90 where i live!

we'll see if nintendo will address this concern or not -- they have surprised us in the past by not always making the most sense with their decision making.

I'm a PC gamer since forever. I did most of my gaming on PS2 & PS3 for a few years but came back to PC again & haven't looked back. As someone who never played Nintendo when I was a kid, I really don't get the hype for the company.

They make plenty of G rated family games but as an adult gamer, it seems like nostalgia has been the only real driver for people's love of endless Mario games in every genre imaginable.

That said, it really does look like Nintendo are making a comeback this year. They're still not doing a great job of introducing new IP but Zelda BOTW & Mario-Com look like they're actually decent games. There's no way I'm buying a Switch, I mean there are a bunch of PS4 exclusives that I haven't played yet because I still don't feel like they're worth buying a console for, I'm not buying a Nintendo console just for a couple of games.

Three or four great games in a year is excellent for a console launch, I do wonder if they can keep it up though. They've been making a lot of weird business decisions for a long time & I'm not convinced they've suddenly started caring about making good games again. I'm not upset that people like Nintendo, I'm glad they're finally making some games that I might actually consider playing. It would be even better if they got less paranoid & let people play their games without buying their weaksauce console first. Or if they let Youtubers put footage of their games in a video without claiming revenue for the whole thing.

So yeah, they've made a couple of good games. I wouldn't go singing their praises just yet.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL: get the switch, play the games, then lets talk. Until you do, don't assume. You don't understand the hype because you haven't played any of the games, you state so yourself.

@si2k78: So I have to buy a US$300 piece of hardware before I'm allowed an opinion? I have to pay them money before I can decide that it's not worth my money?

I have this button, it looks like an ordinary plastic button but actually it's the best thing in the world. It will bring you happiness & joy all your life. If you'd like to buy one, it's only $1000. If you'd like to tell me my buttons aren't worth $1000, you have to buy one from me first before you can truly understand.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL: "so you have to buy a $300 piece of hardware before you're allowed an opinion?". Answer: YES. Otherwise what the heck are you basing you opinion off of? Unless you don't mind offering an uninformed one.

@TAracer: I'm basing my opinion off videos I've watched (like this one), articles I've read & people I've talked to. I'm basing it off game reviews & hardware reviews.

My opinion boils down to: 1. Nintendo have been mostly selling games off nostalgia in recent years. 2: Nintendo have made some genuinely good games this year. (So far agreeing with Mike in the video.) 3. Those few good games still do not represent enough value for me to purchase a console specifically to play them. 4. I hope they continue making good games & also make business decisions that make their games more broadly available. 5. I'm not sure they will.

What about that opinion needs more research? Why do I have to buy an expensive piece or hardware to decide that I don't want to buy an expensive piece of hardware? I'm not suggesting you or anyone else shouldn't enjoy their games or that the Switch doesn't offer value to people who have enjoyed Nintendo games, I'm offering my own opinion which is as valid as anyone else's.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL:

Fair enough. I do agree Nintendo is built on nostalgia and the same franchise of characters. I will say as a lifelong Nintendo and Playstation owner, you will not be disappointed playing the best games Nintendo has to offer. Yes there is only a handful of Switch games, however keep your eye on their digital library. If they release the handful of good Wii U games plus other classics like Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, jump on it, you will not be disappointed.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL: Do the research, read the reviews, borrow the switch and the games from your friend if you can. At least try to get a sense of what makes these games so appealing before stating your ignorance on the matter. Because I had to read through 5 uninformed paragraphs before I realized your opinion was baseless and nothing else.

"Bethesda previously dropped their support for the Wii U, but it looks seems like they're back in full force with the Switch."

I'm sorry, but how can you drop support that was never there to begin with? I don't think Bethesda has ever made a game for a Nintendo platform until Skyrim for the Switch.

@gaminsincepong: yep, apparently they've made a where's Waldo game, home alone game for the NES, a published a few shovelware titles; 2 for the DS and 2 for the Wii.

I'd still say one port of Skyrim is still much better support than anything they've put on previous Nintendo systems.

@doctor_mg: yes. I agree. And those early games on that list were when Bethesda was a much smaller company. You would think there would be more than Wheres Waldo and Home Alone. Did u see all the DOS games they did? Thats some ancient stuff right there lol

Fantastic video! I loved the Wii-U's exclusive, but it isn't something that would be considered successful, nor something Nintendo has any idea what it was.. I still have my Wii0U, but after the years i got worried Nintendo would ever jump back into what they used to be.. A gaming juggernaut. They have so many great exclusives, and creative developers that just weren't there for the Wii-U much.

During the Wii-U i became a massive PC gamer, and pretty much shoved my consoles to the side, and rarely touched them, and even sold my XboxOne, and PS4 because i just didn't play them anymore.. I felt like i would never find another consoles to keep my attention.. Until i saw the Switch.. The idea of being able to grab my console after being on the PC, take it with me wherever and play excellent titles on the go, was something that i think i needed. Nintendo doing something different rather than being some bland box trying to be like PCs was a great idea, because it gave me a reason to try it out.

So far i am in love with my Switch, and the games on it are amazing, and the games coming to it look great as well. I already preordered DOOM as the other day for my Switch even though i have it on my high end PC.. Because playing DOOM on the go just sounds amazing. It's not perfect, things like online app, voice chat, and storage for the Switch are all problems that i hope get fixed soon. But for me its the best console on the market, especially for PC gamers.

I suspect is a semi sponsored vid...the Wii U also had a pretty decent first year. Remember that MK8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 don't really count for the Switch...those are enhanced versions of the Wii U games. BOTW technically doesn't count either...that was advestised 2-3 years before it finally was released for both systems. So what does that leave you?

I hope that the Switch does well, and I hope to be convinced to purchase one just like I did for the Wii U...but I still don't see too many games I'd want to play when I see it sitting on the shelves in the stores.

@mbrogz3000: I don't understand why any game wouldn't "count". If this is your mentality then other console launch years must be similarly poor.

@mbrogz3000: Splatoon 2 is a sequel, new story, new modes, new maps, ect.. If those don't count as sequels, then i guess most shooters on the market never had sequels either. MK8 Deluxe, and BOTW do count as Switch games as well, especially since very few played them on the Wii-U, and the fact that the Wii-U has been discontinued, so in a way its only for the Switch now unless you can somehow find a Wii-U...

I mean besides the games you mentioned we still have Mario + Rabbids, ARMS, FIre Emblem heroes, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, KIrby, Yoshi, Metroid Prime 4, Pokken Tournament, Traditional Pokemon, Square Enix Project Octopath, Pikmin 4 is in the works, and the tons of other Nintendo IPs that could be made at nay moment. The Switchs potential goes through the roof, and the great, and growing 3rd party support also helps it.

Also this didn't feel like it was sponsored, it felt like it came from the heart. The guy truly sounds like he is happy to see Nintendo back.

It does seem like Nintendo is getting a lot of things right this generation, but I have to wonder if it continues to hold out, or if it goes the way of the GameCube.
