I'll watch it, but the general lack of quality put into the community, the way this site pushes so many ads and clickbait articles for games, and the general lack of quality personalities, especially since Danny left doesn't give me a good impression out of the gate. Hoping it's good and not just GameSpot pushing out more videos for more clicks.

@Blabadon: I can understand your concern. We aren't making this show to get a lot of clicks (We hope people like it though) or make money. This show will never be sponsored. While there will still be ads before it on GameSpot or YouTube (That's out of our control) we will never make an episode to please a publisher or to fill a quota. These are Mike's opinion-- and mine to a lesser extent-- and shows will cover what we want or what the audience wants. Give it a shot and tune in for the first episode Sunday @ 3PM est on YouTube. If you don't like it, leave us feedback. We will be looking at everything.

@ledzeppdekk: for sure. I'm not going into this with any explicit dislike of either one of you, there's plenty of idiots on the internet for that. My concerns rise explicitly from the state of GameSpot and how poorly the community is treated.

I love this idea! I think there are too many shows out there that talk about the overall feelings of the game like "It was good" or "That was disappointing", but don't actually break down the nitty-gritty of why, like in gameplay or level design analysis. It'd be great to have more thoughtful and intelligent dissection of that, and hopefully this new series will do so!

Episode ideas:

- Which game was the first to include a Weapon Wheel? I've long believed that R&C pioneered this feature with the Quick Select in 2002, but it wouldn't surprise me if an older game did it earlier.

- How many PSone games used the right stick, or the L3/R3 buttons? I can't think of a single one!

- Post-PS2 history of the 3D Platformer genre. Many people say it's dead, and while it isn't as popular as it was in the 90s (and thank God for that, we don't need another Bubsy), games like Mario, LittleBigPlanet and R&C have kept the torch alive. Comparatively, 2D Platformers died with Mario 64... or did they?

- Games unplugged. Many games these days have deep online systems integrated into the experience, be it leaderboards for side-missions to near MMO functionality in Destiny and The Division. But what if you don't have consistent internet or Comcast hates you this week? What if you pick up one of these games after their servers have been closed?

@KBABZ: Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! I particularly like your first and last idea. The weapon wheel, or radial menu, has always been subtle especially nowadays, but I always thought it was a huge improvement at the time. I remember first encountering it in Beyond Good and Evil and it was hard going back after that.

Games unplugged also hits home for me because I had dial up growing up because I lived in the middle of nowhere. While my friends were playing WoW, CoD, and Halo online, I was stuck playing games by myself. I think I finally got high speed internet in 2012. I can't imagine what it would be like today though.

@ledzeppdekk: Thanks so much! Beyond came out the year after R&C, so it still has a shot! It is a very useful tool to have with so many weapons because every weapon is a half-move on the stick away. (I also had a similar origins idea for the double-jump; earliest I can come up with is Sonic 3 with the Fire Shield).

The unplugged one for me comes from the fact that being in NZ, we don't have the fastest or most reliable internet, and most folks use wifi to connect to the internet. Until I managed a solution (Ethernet cable running outside the house) things as tiny as leaderboards wouldn't even load their infor in! The fact that it takes 48 hours to download a digital AAA game is the main reason why I don't think we're ready for the all-digital future yet, and I think there's more people in my situation than game devs think.

@ledzeppdekk: I did this myself actually by surviving ME2 with just Zaeed and Morinth. Pretty easy to off them in ME3 before the party.
