PS4 Is Nearing The End Of Its Lifecycle - GameSpot Daily

Sony says the era of the PlayStation 4 is coming to a close soon, while Fortnite jetpacks finally arrive on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS.

The PS4 is entering the end of its life cycle. At least that's what Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera said during a recent corporate strategy meeting. Now, while that sounds pretty dire, it's important to note that Sony is not discontinuing the console and still expects it to sell well as games like Spider-Man and The Last of Us Part II make their way to the scene.

What Kodera was likely talking about is the slight decrease in sales. The company expects the PS4 to sell 16 million units this year, as opposed to the 19 million that it pushed in 2017. I wouldn't expect to see any new hardware soon, as Sony has already confirmed it won't reveal any at E3. Sony plans to combat the decrease in sales in a number of ways, and we run down all of the strategies and details in today's GameSpot Daily. But stay tuned, we've got a bunch of other stories coming in 30 minutes or less.

In other news, Fortnite: Battle Royale finally has its Jetpack. The Jetpack was added in a content update today, after months of waiting. The Legendary item that can be only be found in chests was originally slated for release in February before getting delayed. The Jetpack can be used to stay airborne by holding the jump button. However, you won't be able to use Targeting mode while flying. We discuss all of the new weapon's details in the video above.

It's remaster season (actually, I think it's always remaster season), and that means we caught news of three cult-favourite PS3 games coming to the PS4. Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 are all set to be remastered for Sony's console. Unfortunately, however, they're currently only announced for Japan. Regardless, we go into what you can expect in today's episode.

PS4 fans may be happy about more remasters coming to the console, but some Xbox One players are a little upset over a recent Halo light-gun game that was announced for arcades. Some think the game, Fireteam Raven, diverted resources from the next, big Halo title. Thankfully, series community manager Brian Jarrard said it had "zero impact" on 343 Industries and the next console game, which is already in development.

And that's what you'll find in this episode, but be sure to tune in every day of the week at 11 AM PST/2 PM EST/7 PM BST/4 AM AEST for another episode of GameSpot Daily. We cover the most exciting gaming news in 30 minutes or less.
