Year 2 of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands continues with Special Operation 2, the latest free update for the open-world shooter. Special Operation 2 introduces new classes, maps, and other PvP and PvE content to the online game, but the most surprising addition is a crossover mission featuring characters from another popular Ubisoft shooter: Rainbow Six Siege.
Siege Operators Valkyrie, Twitch, and Caveira cross paths with the Wildlands team in a special two-part PvE mission called Operation Archangel. This mission can be played either solo or cooperatively with three other players, and it involves tracking down Caveira. After the Siege Operator mysteriously disappears in Bolivia, Valkyrie and Twitch enlist the help of the Ghosts to locate her--and learn more about her past in the process.
As you can see in the video above, however, things aren't all rosy between the two teams. After Caveira is located, the Ghosts interrogate her brother. Caveira takes offense at the questioning, leading to a tense standoff.
In addition to the Operation Archangel mission, the Special Operation 2 update adds other Rainbow Six Siege-themed content, including two new Siege-inspired classes for Ghost War: Toxic and Surgeon. Players who complete Operation Archangel before August 14 will also receive a set of Caveira gloves, which let players perform Caveira’s CQC move and unlock the position of all enemies in the area when equipped.
This is Wildlands' second crossover event this year, following the Splinter Cell-themed mission released back in April. Special Operation 2 launches for all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, and PC--for free on July 24. Rounding out the update is a new, more challenging PvE experience called Ghost Mode, which features friendly fire, more realistic reloading, and permadeath. Players who have the Wildlands Year 2 Pass will get access to Ghost Mode on July 24, one week before it rolls out for all other players.
