Bought an Xbox for that back in 2007, even before the game came out. Come to think of it, I only bought my first HDTV later that year, so I played it in a crappy 20" SDTV... Maybe it's time to revisit Rapture. Which I kept telling myself must have been designed by an architect rather than anyone with gaming background.

Bioshock was one of those games that, when you've completed it, you had the same feeling after you read a really good book.

It just gave me one of those rare feelings that video games could sometimes be more than just a simple time passer. A game where you wish people outside the gaming community would know more about.

That splicers just standing behind you was freaky as shit!!!!!

I remember when this came out and I first played it, after the intro when you're 'standing' in the water I stood there looking at the flames for 5 minutes before realizing this wasn't a cutscene. Such a great game.

Bioshock was amazing! great game, AMAZING atmosphere. The music and generally the atmosphere really carried the game. Decided to pick up and play bioshock 2 just to say ive played em all once i get Infinite. Almost done 2, so getting pretty pumped for this one.

Bioshock was pretty boring for me, I couldn't get even an ounce of excitement while playing it, the game felt so slow paced just too much

I don't like the Big Daddy and Little Sister thing, I can accept one of each existing with a weird relationship, however it feels too much like a game and takes away from the story when there are loads and loads of them. I also think they ruin the ending, it needed to end at Andrew Ryan and not with a second ending tacked on.

I also don't like the combat, the shooting is really bad and you feel no weight to the melee. I think again all the powers and stuff take away from the story they just make it become even more unbelievable and they go into the realm of stupid with some of them. There is too much emphasis on loot, it has you constantly searching on the ground and that really annoys me. There is just far too much loot and 90% of it is pointless, I hate this trend now because you're constantly just focused on what is on the ground ad the UI.

The level design doesn't feel like a city, like none of it makes sense to how it is positioned, it feels very gamey and I hate how you keep getting in the chambers and stuff between each one. I also feel like they've missed out the greatest possible asset and that is the water, most of the game it feels like this city could be anywhere.

The only thing I like about the game is the music, era and setting, it has so much potential for those reasons but everywhere else it falls flat.

@Tixylixx If you think the game should ended at Ryan then you missed the whole point of the plot. There was no second ending tacked on, that was always the only ending. Your guy might not even be alive if it wasn't for that "seond ending". If the plasmids didn't exist then the splicers wouldn't exist, so without them you wouldn't even have a story. The game is meant to played as a guy picking over the remains of a ruined city. You land with nothing, youre meant to be searching for ammo and food everywhere to stay alive. Rapture was built underwater by a man who rejected every city built on land, what do you expect it to be like? I imagine the chamers to be mainly for safety. If there is a leak of flood in one section then it will be easy to seal off.

@Tixylixx about the structure of the underwater city, how else do you see it being built? Under an enormous glass bowl? I for the most part agree with the structure of Rapture, it would probaly need to have been built slowly, adding chambers and walkways peice by peice. It is not going to be an open city because as you may have noticed it's under water.

hehehehe, at 7:56 the player about shat his pants I bet. I always hated it in games when you do the old "turn around" trick and there's something there that scares the bejezus out of you. Still Bioshock was an excellent game. The only complaint I had, seriously, for the whole game is that the weapons just didn't feel "meaty" enough. Not enough kick or 'BOOM" effects. For instance, right before the scene I mention at the beginning, he's in the room with the splicers chasing him around. That shotgun blast to the woman's head (how nonchalant that sounds nowadays) should just have been "BOOM!!! YOUR FACE IS ALL OVER THE FLOOR NOW LADY!!!". Instead, it's like "pop, fzzzzzzz". Lame.

When I got my dual card set up last year this was the first game I fired up and completely maxed out. I enjoyed it the first time, but enjoyed it much more the 2nd time with amped graphics and playing a ranger. Looking very much forward to this new release.

You know what I always thought would be awesome? If, when chosing what you want liz to pull into the 'present' during combat, you could bring back a -rather annoyed- big daddy.

This is like the best shooting game atmosphere; some other game suggestions are: Thuner Force II [1988] and Tamba II: The Evil Swine Return [1999].

This was perfect timing. I literally woke up today thinking about Bioshock Infinite, looked at the date and realized it was still 4 days away. Then I started thinking about if I was going to like it as much as Bioshock 1. The thing in the original Bioshock that I loved the most was the feeling of being alone in a seriously cool, but messed up world at the same time. So I am hoping there are a lot of alone parts in Infinite, and not always with Elizabeth. But back to what I was saying. I woke up wanting to play the original again, so this video was perfect timing. Thanks

I like the random encounters, but I don't like that I don't know if they're going to be released or not :/ I don't know their schedule.

Still love this game. I played System Shock 2 recently (never got it to run when it originally released), and while I get why people who love that were disappointed at similarities I feel this was more different then some people give the game credit for.

I also think a lot of people forget how the "twist" happens in System Shock 2 (it doesn't happen very far into the game and is not at all surprising if you're paying attention). System Shock 2 is a classic. Bioshock is a modern classic. Both are great games.

I picked this one up for free when I preordered Infinite at greenmangaming. Also got Civ 5 for free and 15 dollars off! I missed this one in 2007 so was very pleased to play through it in anticpation of infinite.

Some of the design decisions in this game drove me mad like having to change your abilities at a station and constantly running out of eve and then being totally screwed because you have to have that one ability to progress and then being forced to die and or backtrack everywhere. Lots of little "gamey" details in this that were frustrating for no reason. They don't make the game more challenging or deep. Made doubly frustrating by the fact that the game is so good n almost every other way. I especially love the enemy AI.

Saints Row 3 and Just Cause 2 would be mighty good games to do some day. Sacrifice, too - with a YouTube link to the end credits. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines would work out well. Zeno Clash and Alice: Madness Returns should do good. The first Witcher game might work out, too. Oh, and I bet FTL would work OK.
