Please...there is an enormous difference between a load bearing device of questionable practicality and an exo-suit with virtually unlimited power, hovering/jumping capabilities, and the capacity to withstand extreme damage while retaining structural integrity (like falling 40 feet, which occurs routinely in-game). The primary issue with this technology, the issue which makes this technology difficult to envision even 40 years in the future, is energy density; that is, to be able to power useful hand-held directed energy weapons and exo-suits with the abilities we see in-game, the innovation in our ability to generate enormous amounts of energy in tiny packages would have to be so immense, that the game might as well feature interstellar travel (as a breakthrough allowing exo-suits like this would probably also make other, previously-thought-impossible technologies feasible). This game is far-fetched science fiction, at best.

Yeah, I'll take a part 2 please, Cam.

Good old Lockheed produces all the best stuff. What's great about them is anything they reveal is usually no where near as awesome as they stuff they don't.

I'd love it if we were capable of getting to the stage where this kind of technology were made available to the general public, although I can only imagine the kind of chaos criminals might cause with them.

"Exosuits allow soldiers to carry more weapons. . ."

That reminds me of how comical Master Chief is in Halo. He's a super huge cyborg and he can only carry two weapons max and he's always running out of ammo. He always in need of scavenging from the battlefield.

A Part 2 would always be welcome.

Great Show. Thanks Cam.

Most of the sci-fi tech you see are based on something. Example: Railguns.

I feel like the more compelling tech is the stuff designed to get soldiers OFF the battlefield. Drones/ robotic soldiers would be an example. I do believe industrial uses may be the best for the exosuits; work-related injuries due to repetitive motion or strains and sprains cost many companies millions in insurance rate hikes.

@placksheep Yeah, but imagine the hours of health and safety paperwork that would have to be covered before using any of this stuff. It would just invite a new level of insurance claims from malfunctioning exo-suits.

Does anyone else feel like some of the GameSpot staff aren't that happy about the promotional series by Activision on GameSpot?

I was surprised with the way some of the video presenters tried to pass it off as a joke but it now looks more like a sarcastic remark. Dunno maybe its due to lack of sleep and lack of clubbing at a Saturday night. Need to get my can of beans real quick.

More military technology for the west to use for its colonialism in the third word and the repress their people at home. Great.

This technology and the resources behind it should be geared towards improving the quality of life for people not for wars of imperialism and repression of the working class and I feel this video shows the "glory" of war but no mention of the tragedy it creates..on that note I have yet to see even one single picture or video of a dead Arab or Afgan on the "news" despite 13 years of war and over a million dead, the majority civilians. Why is that?

Contrary to the propaganda terrorism is a result of western imperialism, if you are fighting an occupying army they are not terrorist they are partisans and the US army bombs civilians all the time so I guess they are terrorist.

Call of Duty is an expression of how the propaganda machine has conditioned America to borderline fascism and I use "borderline" cautiously.

@foxbat_prime Actually there is repression, restrictions and exploitation are every where, even in first world countries like US, UK, etc. Power wins, period. It doesn't discriminate between NATO or China or Russia. It happened there, and it happens even here in your "Third world country". Its human nature which is completely normal. We are animals after all, always vying for the top position, Alpha male/female as a person , Bosses of our profession and victors as a nation. And for that its kill or be killed.

Trust me, I would rather have a gun pointed at someone's head than having it pointed at me. And any normal, non-suicidal human would too.

@Maj_Wood Actually much more like 10 years. Already major countries are researching into chemicals and gadgets which enhance a soldiers fighting ability. If its in development in India, its bound to be there in other major powers too.

it's like ghost reacon, most the stuff is getting made or at least trying but it never gets deployed because its not cost effective to arm every soldier with all these things, even the sas dont really use enything special

@Phelaidar Hmm, and what would be a modern way? Maybe not develop technology at all, and eat uncooked food? Yup that's so advanced!!

Come off it, most major technological, ideological and social changes happen due to wars. Its costs lives, sure but its also necessary for human development. Consider it as a patch make/ patch break cycle in a game so that it gets better in the end.

@rohitv2312 I wouldn't go as far as saying it's necessary, being that there are no absolute pacifist global civilizations to draw comparisons. It definitely seems to be unavoidable, and you're otherwise correct. However, ideological and social changes aren't always for the better. That is the human condition I guess.

@Phelaidar You are such a pacifist. War is not about killing people - And we dont carry weapons to kill (just think of soilders and bankrobbers) Killing is not the goal. Only assassinations is; and thats a whole different thing

I think that the research is pretty darn cool, but there need to be significant advances in energy storage before these things can be practical. Lockheed seems to have a pretty good lead and has the resources to make these advances, but I also wonder how much they might the soldier on the ground. Yeah, they can load up with more weight, but they need their full packs every day. The exoskeleton's mission might be fairly narrow and not an everyday device. Still, I definitely want to see more research into this stuff.

@amdreallyfast I agree. I fact (not a criticism), I think that your statement about "significant advances in energy storage" being necessary is a gross understatement! If we ever (and I hope we do) get to a point where we've mastered energy density as to allow the exos seen here and practical, hand-held directed energy weapons, we'll probably have mastered interstellar travel too; this kind of energy density would be a technological paradigm shift for all humanity.

Exoskeletons are far too expensive for any military to equip their soldiers with.

Jetpacks (and jumppacks) has no real military use.

As for a part 2. Please no.... We don't need more Call of Duty trash...

It's not too expensive for the U.S. We'll just borrow the money!

On a serious note, the suits would be perfect for special forces groups.
