I just wished we could use legendary characters but in the real sense they're too experienced for this old school stuff mixed with new alternative game influences. Just a pity its taken an unrecognizable Resident Evil franchise but I like the fact its gone into survival horror roots again. I haven't played the game yet but I think its safe to say so

@sellingthings: Directors Cut was a great start, but somewhere between 3 and 6 the game lost its identity. I like the new RE, but it really should be just Resident Evil: Biohazard.

Resident Evil 7 is awesome, but it should be mandatory to experience 1,2,3,REmake,Zero, and Code Veronica X first. The struggles of bad tank controls, horrible cameras, slow opening doors, steps and elevators to mask loading screens, etc.

Just saying; play all Resident Evil games and skip RE7. Dont get me wrong RE7 is fine game but it isnt a RE game in my point. It doesnt have character memorial at all like past RE games, seems like we bind with old heros with past RE games characters that we known. In RE7 you jump direct into game with a short intro and bam youre inside mansion. Hell they even not showing the face of the hero. RE7 is just a VR show game thats all. RE2 and RE4 is still the best games in the series. All the past game has a uniqe intros and unforgetable characters.

@GabrielX-X: Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the original games I think it's a little harsh to suggest that people don't play this game because characters aren't returning from those games. Whilst the protagonists are the major characters which people remember you must always be aware that the star of the show in any horror game is the environment, in this case the 'haunted house'.

A couple of other points:

RE1 also had a short intro and then you thrown in to the mansion.

Games have to evolve. RE4 handled it well but that evolution caused the downslide of the franchise and this game gives a fabulous return to the series' roots. The fact that VR is also a component of the game is just another string to its bow, this is not just a gimmick for the game. If you think it is then I'm not sure that you have played it.
