so graphic improvement means we, who had old 3ds gonna play with bad graphics. and people need to ask that why did i payed for a console which had 3 years of life?
this is not ethical and this is disrespect to costumers. shame...
I've had my original 3ds since that came out so trading it in for almost half off on the new XL is lovely. Can't wait for my already extensive 3ds game library to expand even more and become even better because of the new systems. For once Nintendo isn't just doing a cosmetic remake of the system and giving us a lot more for our money.
I've upgraded from the original 3DS to the New 3DS XL, and I would highly recommend it. Aps load faster, the screen and 3d seems much better and it's made a massive difference for playing games like smash bros.
If Nintendo wants to region-lock its own games, fine, but the other developers and publishers should be allowed to decide for themselves if their games are region-locked.
Every defense I have heard for region-locking holds water no better than a sieve.
Will I be able to transfer my Pokemon omega ruby save data to the new 3dsXL? I have a downloaded version. I don't wanna start over. I put too many hours into my game.
Not with it's lack of bundled charger (so you're paying for the console AND a charger), change in SD card memory (did a ton of cool stuff on Smash? Too bad! That won't cross over to your New 3DS, start over!), and NoA's refusal to allow the smaller version in the states where Europe/Japan get them.
I say to heck with it. I'll stay with the original one.
@j12456788 @armoredchocobo I think you're missing the point. Every device that needs a charger should come with one. Besides, some of us never owned a 3DS.
If I got the normal 3DS XL already and I want to get the New 3DS XL, how about the content like the original gameboy games from the late 80s, will I have to buy them all again for the new 3DS XL or can I transfer it to the new 3DS Xl as well ?
@phili878 You can transfer everything from the 3DS XL into the New 3DS XL. Just make sure the New 3DS XL doesn't have a Nintendo ID (if you get a bundle one and given it an ID, then this would lose the game). As long as it has no ID then your safe. All games you bought are connected to your Nintendo ID and to transfer that over, it will be available on the New 3DS XL instead. Only one system will have them
Really don't see much reason to get one of these until they start making a good amount of quality games for the New 3ds. To be honest, there aren't really that many good games for the 3ds outside of Nintendos main 1st party franchises.
Why does Europe and Australia get the New 3DS standard model but North America gets the New 3DS XL model only at launch? Weird marketing choices by Nintendo there. Would make more sense to launch both New 3DS models at the same time, right? And that power adapter bought separately? WTH!?!
I live in Canada. I played one at Toy's R Us yesterday! It's pretty awesome actually! I noticed immediately more stable 3D which was one of the main reasons I don't have a 3DS yet... I also noticed it's really fast, load times are speedy. The nub is something that you'll get used too eventually and works well too.
@saosebastiao Uh we did buy a new game boy ever time a new one came out look how many people bought the Gameboy Color and the GBA also Nintendo is not the first company that has done this remember the slim Playstations
Why does Nintendo insist on constantly moving the stylus away from the convenient side position and putting it on the top or bottom? It makes it awkward as hell to take out and use. Also moving the cart slot doesn't even make sense, you're moving it from a location that is easily accessible and out of the way to one where I can only assume there lies a chance of accidentally ejecting your game mid play. Lastly I cant even comprehend why they cant move the ABXY buttons and give us a full second analog stick, NO ONE like those nubs on old laptops... Nintendo I know you dominate the hand held market but please.... stop jerking us around and using Apple logic when making "upgrades" give us full fledged features and not half assed analog "nubs".
For me the new 3DS will have a major disadvantage with the game cartridge being in the front. When I play it with one hand or when I pick it up and hold it to close it for example I always have my palm or my fingers pressed at that very spot. Also I like playing leaned backwards while having the lower edge of the device resting on my belly - depending on how easy a game is to eject that might also be an issue. I never accidentally ejected the game on the old DS or 3DS but now I definitely will.
The rest of the features however make it look great.
I still have a perfectly working 3DS though so I won't get the new device too soon but I will consider it once my 3DS is getting too old and showing the worse signs of aging.
I'm definitely upgrading. This is what I feel they should have released in the first place. The 3D will be perfected and work across all older games. The second analog and added shoulder buttons let me play all CPP games. The better processor power will let my games load faster and run better and it'll allow me to play specific games I wouldn't otherwise be able to. The better battery life is sorely needed now especially considering my 3DS's battery is already going - I left my 3DS (original ambassador 3DS) in standby for 8 hours off the charger and its battery fully drained yesterday.
he forgot to mention the NFC capabilities of the NN3DS and support for the amiibo figures Nintendo is rolling out as well. oh and the better camera image rendering.
I ordered one for the c-stick / improved 3d (old 3ds gave me a headache so i had to turn the 3d off, (angle kept going bleh). Appearently this new version has resolved that issue, and i'm betting on it working properly this time around. (it's a gamble i'm willing to take anyway)
This drives a knife into the entire market of 3ds owners. How are devs supposed to decide which hand held to make a game for? THe old 3ds with tons of owners, or the new 3ds with only a few? The only answer is to make a game that plays on both, but then it won't take full advantage of the new 3ds features. It's the DS Lite all over again.
I don't even have to watch the video answer the question posed by the headline: Should I upgrade? Well I guess so... my DS Lite is getting a little old :)
Im so mad.. I got a pikatchu XL 2 years ago and i feel insulted by nintendo right now.UPGRADE TO THE NEW F@G DS FOR ONLY 200$ GET NEW EXCLUSIVE GAMES ,DUAL ANALOG STICK AND NEW BUTTONS. HURRAAYYYYYYY. WE CAN DO THIS BECAUSE there isnt any competition in the handheld console market,so Nintendo can do whatever they want..This is the first time a console gets released, that has upgraded specs compared to the last one ..... Are consoles PC now? Next year the might release a F@G DS 2 that has increased GPU. YAAAY.
I want to get it ,but on the other hand i dont want to support this f@cking company and their cheap strategies.
@sizonz The only thing that sucks is that a very few games will be exclusive to it. Other than that there is nothing new on it. You get all the buttons and the new stick with the circle pad pro.
