Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 5 Breakdown & References - "Die Trying"

The USS Discovery reaches Federation and Starfleet headquarters, but must prove themselves before they can be trusted. Greg and Chastity break down the plot and Easter eggs from "Die Trying".

In Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 5, the USS Discovery and its crew finally locate and reach Federation and Starfleet headquarters thanks to Adira gathering the location from Senna Tal's memories. These separate entities must now abide together. Burnham, Saru, and Adira are summoned to meet Starfleet's Commander in Chief, Admiral Charles Vance (Oded Fehr). The Discovery crew are anxious to help the Federation, but Vance says a debrief must come first.

Meanwhile, Sick Bay is overflowing with Kili refugees, who have been affected by prions and have 4 hours to live. They need an antidote, which requires travel to the USS Tikhov that is 5 months away. Only the Discovery and its spore drive can help get there and back in time. Chastity and Greg recap the story and comb through Episode 5 for Easter eggs and Star Trek references from past episodes of Star Trek Voyager, Deep Space Nine, TOS and TNG.

So far, just an outstanding and exciting season of Star Trek with S3! Also cool how we're finally getting other characters on Discovery fleshed out more. For any Trek fans out there that haven't given Discovery a chance, jump on in! S1 starts out slow, and is a bit annoying with it's seemingly canon breaking choices. Don't worry, things get worked out (for the most part). S2 is much better than S1 (we get Spock and Capt Pike!), and S3 so far has been a blast! It took a while to get going (just like TNG), but I haven't been this excited about a show since the Farscape days. :)
