Starfield Is Going Through An Identity Crisis

After a year of patches and updates, new mods from the community, and a meaty expansion, there's no denying that the Starfield experience is better than it was at launch. But is it the revamp that players are looking for? Despite all those updates, Starfield struggles to become the RPG of the future as the design choices of the past drag it down.

There's no such thing as bad press and starfield is the king of gaming press it has never left since release. Wether it's a mainstream site, reddit or YouTube this game will not go away. For all the hate it gets folks sure can't stop talking about it

@tbird7586:Well this game is a AAA big budget exclusive that was touted as the second coming of Christ. With Todd Howard, Bethesda, quotes months before the game released and months and months after the game has released. I liked this one

Bethesda's Lead Writer Says, "Starfield Is The Best Game The Studio Has Ever Made",

And this is one developer who has a open line to game journalists, every time the game gets a update, fix, or something new happen with it. Thus, plenty of journalism coverage, which they need. Meanwhile games that Nintendo and Insomniac developers put out, seem to have a phobia of any press. I would argue the reason why no one can stop talking about this game is because.... the developers cannot stop talking about the game, which is easy fodder for journalists, and thus always in the news cycle.

No bad press.... maybe, maybe not. This game sold well, but it fell off drastically, and its ancillary sales have not been as good as Bethesda wanted. Much of it is disappointed consumers, and bad reviews. Still though, they more it stays relevant in the news the better the chances more people will at least try the game out. Over all Bethesda was really hoping the game would stay more active then it has. With games like No Man's Sky being more active. And brand new games just killing it, like Helldiver at a fraction of the development costs.

So far the DLC expansion... well Starfield's Shattered Space DLC has a lukewarm take off is not good. Again, Bethesda is out there every day with plenty to say about it, or I should say, Todd Howard has plenty to say about it, before during and after its launch. It may be better if Bethesda puts out a short news briefing about their games, and quietly goes back to developing. I have not seen such vocal hype men like Todd Howard and all of the Bethesda team, since Cliffy B, or Peter Molyneux. It is very dramatic to see -like a slow car crash- and they are like Desperate Housewives eager to get in front of the press. Meanwhile, Sony/Tencent kills Concord and the crickets are quiet. The press are angry that no one is talking about it.

I was just okay with the game.

I'm going to say it. The fact that Andreja responds in no way of any meaning to the fact that you have engaged House Va'ruun is the biggest tell that Bethesda cares NOTHING for the stories they are trying to sell you they are crafting. This studio cares nothing for the player (payer). Total horse shit, the whole thing. (New Game + player, Level 6). I regret the time I spent knowing how little they care.
