I'd heard about Alan Wake ages ago and forgotten all about it. I can see how it could be compared to Max Payne what with the psychological thriller elements - walking around your house in Max Payne was one of the best "I'm freaking out" moments in any video game ever. Metro 2033 looks good too. This is the best look I've had at it and it looks really imersive. I like the lack of HUD an the clipboard/ watch combo is an interesting way of getting around that - no pausing to check objectives, brilliant. Both seem worth a look and I will at least rent both!

@Alex_09 Part 2: Firstly, your own reasoning behind hating Alan Wake is fairly unjustified to say the ultimate least. Just because a company's new product doesn't have the same name attatched to it as their most successful original franchise, that by no means justifies hate towards it. For instance, everyone knows Bethesda for their Elder Scrolls franchise, and yet when they decided it was time for something new and developed the incredible Fallout 3, fans loved every single second of it. Both the Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3 had their simillarities as well as trademarks specific to their repective publisher, as is the case with Max Payne and Alan Wake. Secondly, adding DLC to a yet to be released game in the form of a special edition is more or less the same as adding action figures, posters and the like to collector's editions like with Halo 3 - just because it's not a conventional form of either DLC and/or Collector's editons alike - this doesn't provide any reason to discard it...in fact, I welcome this kind of change. Thirdly, the story is NOT ONLY inspired by lost - the only thing that has any simillarities what-so-ever, is most likely the TV-show style thriller aspect it has. It ALSO takes major influence, from Peter Straub's Ghost Story, Lunar Park, hugely from Twin Peaks [great], and stephen king...so what's not to like?

@Alex_09 Part 1: How in the name of Wake did you take my comment as an insult to Metro2033? Ackowledging that a game is both linear and short on replay value alike, does not by any means equal to an insult; for instance, Condemned Criminal Origins was not a game with much replay value, and yet - it's one of my all-time favorites.

Alan Wake and Metro 2033 are on my deffoget list. I think, from how it's looking so far it will be great. The graphics look amazing and the story behind it is amazing. Even games like MW2 have very little replayability. Wow, the multiplayer is amazing but whats this i can reset all of my progress just for the sake of a different emblem??? If you call prestiging reoplayability it's not, its just that people haven't realised they've just been duped into reseting everything for the sake of sweet F A XD Bring on the games of 2010!!!!!

@SirMordredX: Yes, you're right. It's a sad state of affairs. I believe the way forward is (especially for these campaign-driven/only games) is DLC. They need to make players not only buy the game, but to keep hold of it - they lose out a lot when people sell them on. This is especially sad now that DLC is now becoming easier to distribute on the PC. I hope it isn't too late.

@SirMordredX You have no basis for insulting this game, and although Alan Wake may(and probably will) turn out great, there are numerous reasons to already hate on it. First off, it's a game from Remedy that doesn't include the words Max Payne. Second, they have already FINISHED DLC for the game(the first of many parts) that will be released in the limited edition copies. And my third and most important reason is... The story is inspired by LOST.

i agree. but the reason theres no BFBC2 stuff is beacuse it comes out in 4 days, so its not worth doing any previews on it.

@rpgnutt they're my spare pair that don't quite fit properly, my girlfriend stepped on my black pair rendering them useless. So you'll have to excuse them till I can make a trip to specsavers for some new ones ;-)

I don't think Metro 2033 will have as much replay value as even Single-player only games like STALKER, seeing as it's a linear tale; yet, that does by no means stop it from being a great experience. And Alan Wake? Alan. Wake. Is. A. No. Brainer. Get. Now. @Huwbutts Oh so a big middle finger to them for creating it at all as well? It was Microsoft who pulled the plug on the PC version - not Remedy. When you are working closely with a publisher such as Microsoft to develop a title, it is them who are producing it - and eventually distributing it, so they firstly must look at the state of the PC market NOW, seeing as pirating is at it's worst now, and no one likes securom, so either way it wouldn't sell on the PC nearly as well as it would have a couple years back even, let alone the Xbox360 version now. That's why they pulled the plug. Also, multiplatform games are usually less polished than singular titles, due to timing constraints.

Metro 2033 looks good however I'm afraid of replay value since it doesn't have multiplayer for a FPS.

Ditch Mark, he mumbles... I can't believe Remedy waited 4 years to pull the plug on the PC version of Alan Wake. One almighty middle finger to them...

With Metro 2033 being so close to release, I'd like a demo on Xbox Live for at least a taste. Something to give me a general idea. As First impressions make it look like it could basically be really good or really bad. Still, fingers crossed. Great coverage though Mark and Guy. :-) Anyway, I've already pre-ordered Alan Wake so this video's just served to reinforce my faith in this long awaited game. I think I'll go play Max Payne 1 & 2 again to stave off my impatience for this game. ;-p

Not much I haven't seen already, been tracking Metro 2033. Highly anticipating Alan Wake though, as well as Metro 2033. Both are definitely on my GOTY list as of now, among many others.
