it isn't as interesting to watch as X-Files but the acting is consistently good so it's watchable.

I did enjoy Sean Astin's role and funny Goonies reference but the show is a bit too repetitive for the most part and Max although a good actress was a rather pointless character. Her step brother or whatever was a much stronger character than her though his flirting with the married housewife was too predictable and silly.

Season 2 is merely good. Season 1 was a masterpiece, it was the show nobody knew they needed in their lives. The original charm, ambience and vision felt missing at times, writing was questionable and it's shaping up to be a really bad cheesy xmen knock off.

@Tee_Mal: Nah, I disagree, the second season was great. It was different than season one, which was more focused on one event. Season 2 had winding story elements, it was less focusing on some characters and more focusing on all characters.

I definitely didn't think it was anything like a cheesy X Men knock off. That's my opinion though.

@thelostscribe: It had some great moments but it wasn't nearly as good imo. It's supposed to be this small American community town with secret, mysterious goings on, where was the suspense? The ideas were there but the execution was sloppy honestly, i guess i feel it felt rushed, it really showed to me. Bigger is not always better in storytelling, you say it focuses on all characters but it's in danger of spreading its self too thin that way, Did Max and Billy contribute anything note worthy... Like.. at all?? Not to mention far too much fan service bogging the season down such as giving into the barb meme like ffs internet, way to ruin shows.

IMO it was a messy season, and it didn't even leave any real captivating anchoring point for s3, ooohh the big bad monsters still alive, that literally screams "we're gonna do this a bit longer until the paycheck runs out".

"I definitely didn't think it was anything like a cheesy X Men knock off."

I said it's shaping up to be... Did you not see episode 7? Because if we're going to be finding 8 other kids with super natural abilities as we go on then we got a serious recipe for justice league/x-men cheese and i couldn't think of anything worse and farther from the original seasons identity.

@Tee_Mal: You clearly have some strong feelings about this. Yes I saw the episode revolving around 8 and her punk band of rebels. Yes, that episode did feel weird, although I appreciate what they were trying to accomplish with it and 11's search for a place to belong.

As for the 'We're gonna do this a bit longer until the paycheck runs out', the duffer brothers have already said they don't plan on this being a 10 season series. I dunno, I can see the flaws that the season had, but overall, I thought it was much better than most shows out there and still kept the interesting and unique characters.

Yes, it was no longer the tiny isolated incident, but it couldn't be with everyone who was involved by the end of season 1. Anyways, I enjoyed it and look forward to the next season. The brothers said they were experimenting and I'm sure have learned through the process. The sophomore effort is always the hardest.

They could &should have edited the Heroes-like Sister episode completely out -- it was utterly out of place and disruptive. They could have woven in the sister and all the same lessons (minus the horrible yoda session with the fkn train car) into the usual 5min per episode, and never introduced the idiotic derivative side characters, hokey "honorable revenge criminals" face-palm. Had she just disappeared and came back, deleting that episode entirely, the entire season would have been better for it. Again I say, "Heroes" -- specifically all seasons after S1.

Let this be the last season. It cannot withstand any more such experiments. Go out still carrying a solid 8.5 to 9.

@Pyrosa: Wow, while I agree that the episode was out of place in the series, I'm excited for the next season.

* Spoilers ahead *

Honestly, I saw the whole episode differently, it showed while 8 was out using her powers for selfish reasons, 11 instead left to go help those she cared about. I didn't see anything honorable about 8 or her band of thieves, neither did 11 I think.

The episode was really there to show 11 finding herself, she was discontent with where she was, with Hopper. She then left to find her mother, then she left to find 8. Both times, she never felt right about where she was. I agree it could have been done differently and maybe a little better, but it is what it is I guess.

The rest of the season was great. I enjoyed the many winding stories, really highlighting the other characters, though I felt that Mike was a bit cut out for it. If they can balance Mike and 11 a bit more in season 3, it will be almost perfect.

Anyways, while Season 2 did feel different, I enjoyed it just as much as the first. But that's my opinion.

Definitely lived up to expectations for me as all the new characters were oustanding and everything was bigger, more cinematic, and more exciting. Sean Astin does an outstanding job and even Paul Reiser puts in a fantastic performance. Plus I loved the pairings of 11 and the Chief and Dustin & Steve.

I absolutely love these characters so I don't mind the character driven episodes in the very beginning. In fact, I enjoyed them almost as much as I did the story driven episodes. They wanted to show how Season 1 had effected each charcter and what that baggage was doing to their lives. The people that realy love these characters will have no problem with the initial episodes and each episode just gets better and better and the stakes just get raised higher and higher with each new episode. I scored season 1 a 10/10 and I would score season 2 a 9.5/10. Definitely no sophomore slump for this show.

This is my favorite show the last 2 years running. Cant wait for S3 and am hoping they take it to S4, although that remains to be seen. Am hoping for 4 and out with this show.

@RighteousNixon: Wow ! seriously , there are so many great shows that this wouldn't even be in my top 10 . I'll agree acting is generally of a high standard though but the writing leaves alot to be desired and most of the adults are just made out to be dumb which is grating. Especially how all but one cop is as dumb as a brick.

It's not all that surprising that it is messy in parts though as the Duffer Brothers were only born in early 80's.

@RighteousNixon: I agree, the Season 2 was great in my opinion. The Duffer Brothers recently said that the show may run longer than 4 seasons, but definitely not 10. I hope they run it as long as they can keep it good. If Season 4 is the end, I'll be a bit sad, but it would be cool to watch them grow to adults, by that at least 18. Or they could take a year or two off between one season for them to hit a certain age.

I feel sad for Longmire, with it's final season coming out next month. While season 4, Netflix's first season, was a misstep in almost every sense(Cinematography, Longmire's personality, overall story), Season Five was absolutely phenomenal.

Anyways, I guess being humans, we always want more, but if they really feel that season 6(4 regarding Stranger Things) will be the last they can do, I guess I'd rather see it go out confidently, than limping along.

@dmblum1799: Your comment makes no sense.

They don't mention spoilers in the title, yet you're here bitching about spoilers saying that they SHOULD be included in the title.

I'm leaning towards Dr. Brenner using 012 (or another super kid) to contact the mind flayer. El may have been his most promising subject but he definitely had a plan B. I think he'll push the next kid too far and the mind flayer will take over a kid with powers. Then the kid will either try to reopen the rift, or force El into doing it (maybe kidnapping Mike). Come on... bad ass psychic power battle between El and the mind flayer (possessing another kid) who doesn't want to see that!

@Hansraw: ...and again I say/warn, "Heroes." Utter fkn random garbage after S1. This show would just fall into that exact same "ooh lookie -- new power kid, new troubles, new backstory" trap, no matter how much we love these original kids.

The show needs to stop while it's good.

Definitely not up to season 1.

First 4 episodes easily could be fit to episode one. Only in episode 4 the train start moving. Season 2 lacks tension building and dramatization overall. The lore was predictable and shallow with many mistakes.

The upside down - so well made in season 1, in season 2 was limited to only few caves, really ?

Another new character - Max had a nice intro but after finishing the show I remained puzzled what was her purpose in it.

Season 1 I personally would rate 10/10, but season 2 - 6.5 at best. How much season 2 was enjoyable probably sums up that during the show I was reading news on the internet.

@verysalt: Her purpose was just to piss off Eleven it seems :) . No real point to have her other than as a rather weak romantic interest for one of the main characters.

It actually seemed more like just to keep up with trends the show had to have an interracial relationship in it.

It seemed too forced anyway and didn't flow at all with the story line.

Which probably sums up how your opinion of it is hardly worth much

@stevo302: Agreed, lol. I would never trust an opinion of a show when someone was actually doing something on the internet while watching the show. If you cant give the show your full attention, best to just not write a review of it.

@stevo302: Make your own opinion. All I can say that season 2 didn't live up to the standards of season 1. Often I found myself bored by non-essential things it was showed.

@timmyp1982:

Hawkins lab in season 2 wasn't better either. After all the trouble agency experienced prior and during season 1 they still had less than 10 soldiers to guard it ? Not even talking that some of those soldiers were wearing parade uniforms.

@timmyp1982: What was cheesy about the lab in the first one? I'm really confused by that sentence.
