Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is headed to Nintendo Switch on December 7, and it's placing every fighter from the series' history back on the roster. Those returning characters will get their own Amiibo figure too, Nintendo confirmed.
Every character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U got the Amiibo treatment, including DLC characters like Bayonetta and Cloud. Returning characters in the new game will have their own figures, with Ice Climbers and Pichu named specifically. There will also be Amiibo figures for brand-new characters like Daisy, Ridley, and the Inklings.
An Amiibo figure allows players to level up that particular character and customize their moveset and fighting style. They can then be used as a special CPU-controlled character. They were released across 10 waves for the Wii U and 3DS games, and the Inkling and Ridley Amiibo will kick off wave 11.
Like past Smash Bros. titles, Ultimate will also support GameCube controllers, and you can pre-order special branded ones right now. If you want even more info, you can watch us play Smash for Wii U and answer you burning questions about Ultimate.
