The Witness's final challenge was infuriating with it's time restriction of 6 minutes 40 seconds, requirement to remember a maze from a puzzle you complete and the location of two puzzles within it as well and the fact that there are 14 puzzles interspersed over a distance you have to traverse. I know I can complete the puzzles given time but the time ticking away causes extra stress as you get closer to the end of the challenge.

I admit to quitting after 20 or so attempts.

Silent Hill 1. Yes, it has the hardest puzzles I have ever found in games. And Omikron: The nomad soul, I remember there was a very difficult puzzle in Omikron that made my quit the game and destroy the cd, haha, JK. I didn't destroy my cd :) but I quit the game there :(

damn you puzzle....

I did beat Fez, but certainly didn't try to get 100% completion, and clearly my gut was right not to try. Something random and virtually impossible isn't really a puzzle at all, as it doesn't rely on wits or concentration.

One thing's for sure, when you can't solve a puzzle without struggling even when resorting to a walkthrough, that's bad design.

Nice to see you Chastity.

The one game I played of the set you showed was Portal. While there were tough moments within, it seemed doable and I felt like a genius in solving it. Some of the others you showed, like the first, why play something that difficult? Honestly I play to have fun, not to be frustrated where I want to quit. The developers may think they are clever with the toughness of what they created, but I think it's just bad game design.

Maybe I'm not as fun as I think I am... ;-)

Nice video. Although it would have been better if you picked more games that weren't made within the last 5 years.

I remember playing The Hobbit for the ps2. That had some genius puzzles that really forced you to use your brain.

The hardest/worst puzzles had to be from Tomb Raider IV for the ps1. The puzzles didn't seem to have any logic behind them apart from trial and error, even the walkthrough/fan sites struggled to explain the logic.
