Well, I mostly agree with this list. My god Maria's fight was glorious! And the first time Ludwig got his sword I was like "whaaaa? Oh gods NO!"

Abyss Watchers were insanely cool, but that fight was way too easy. I was hoping to see Gravelord Nito here, or Martyr Logarius though. And completely leaving out Black Dragon Kalameet is just inexcusable ;-)

All 4 of the bosses from The Ringed City DLC would easily make it onto this list now.

With Old Monk, it was neither. For me, it was playing against an extremely easy A.I. He was easier than many of the normal bad guys. I don't know who my favorite is. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, closely followed by Bloodborne was my favorite, but Demon's doesn't have any of my favorite bosses. In Dark Souls, not because of any lore, but because of the fight that didn't so much reminds me of a Souls fight, but a fight from something like Zelda maybe, was Gaping Dragon.

It was just fun running away from him, dodging his charge to run up to him and attack (rinse repeat), which usually isn't what happens during the Souls/Borne bosses, which often contains sweaty hands, heart pounding, circle strafing, as you block, waiting to attack. Those can be intense fights, but they're not that interesting to me aside from what the bosses look like. I also liked Bloodborne's Gehrman. It was pretty easy and quick, but the music and his moves was exciting, and his transformation mid-battle was cool. And I also liked in Bloodborne, Micolash, mainly because again, he wasn't just blocking and strafing, but you had to run around the stage to get him, and he also had some kind of personality.

I bought Demon's and Dark Souls on their releases, and only played a few hours of them. I liked what I played, but it felt too grindy to me at the time, but when DS3 came out, I started with Demon's Souls, and went through all of them back-to-back. I was wrong about the games being grindy. I don't have as much fervor for them as many fans do, but I enjoyed them. DS3 was underwhelming to me, and DS2 was great, but not as good as the the first Dark Souls, or Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne is almost as good as Dark and Demon's. I didn't love the DLC stuff, and to me there wasn't enough variety in its setting.

@apb1101: Great boss and certainly the first reasonably tough boss, so long as you don't over level.

Did you know you can get the Dark Wraiths to traverse the fog. They'll attack the Watchers. It's pretty awesome.

I overall agree with the list, or at least the bosses chosen. But Gehrman was, by far, my favorite boss. The music, the arena, the lore, and the fight.

I have a soft spot for Sif, the lore alone is tragic and sad. I accidentally ran into Sif at a very low level in DS and got absolutely owned. When I finally got back and won it was very satisfying. I would have liked more DS bosses on the list as they really introduced a lot of them mechanics that would come later.

Number 2 Abyss watchers and number 1 Lady Maria roflmfao... I mean ok maybe Lady maria should be kind of high but number 1? But Abyss watchers number 2 wtf. That guy was really easy compared to other bosses.

@TimmyDKJR: I don't think it's comparing the difficulty but how awesome the boss battle is.

If we went for difficulty alone? Orphan of Kos stomps everything!

I don't normally hate on these sorts of articles, but I really disagree with this list.

Overall, way too many bosses from DS2. Ornstein and Smough should be #1, and it really isn't even close. 10 years from now, that is the boss everyone will remember, for good reason.

Sif, Gargoyles, Tower Knight, King Allant, and Quelaag are all much more deserving of spots on this list due to their impact on the series as a whole and the "OH SH*T" moments they created. Gargoyles was the first time you fought more than 1 boss, Tower Knight was first introduction to over-sized bosses, and Sif and Quelaag were just cool as sh*t. There was way too much focus on lore in choosing this list. Ultimately these games are about gameplay, not story, and this list failed to reflect that.

@dshockey: Nice list. They should have all been included. One of my personal favourites is the Storm King. It was one of the easiest but killing a giant flying sky bastard is just so satisfying.

The Mad Monk boss fight deserves a high rating just for its innovation. The first time I was summoned as the Mad Monk I didn't even know what was happening. I didn't have my summon sign down. Why was I being summoned? Then I realised I was The Boss. Great concept.

Gaping Dragon is possibly my overall favourite.

Nito.

Deacons of the Deep.

@dshockey: Agreed. They also have way too many of the dudes in armor bosses. Fume Knight and Alonn aren't bad fights, but there's not anything special about them.

Tower Knight and Allant definitely deserve a spot. I'd also add Kalameet for being the first fire breathing dragon boss.

The Nameless King was the hardest. That spider in BB is a real pain.

As a sunbro, I probably have killed the twin princes over a hundred times. It is always interesting to me because I always like to help people with bosses. Certain bosses you see a lot of summons, certain others you never do, like usually super easy bosses like those monks in DS3 or optional or difficult bosses.

I would say the ancient dragon in DS2 was really fun. Any dragon fight is fun for me.

Most of these bosses are from DLC and I have yet to play any DLC for any of the Soulsborne games. I guess I know what I need to be doing now...

@freeformrulz: Definitely one of the best games I've played in 35+ years of gaming, though it was the DLC that made the game truly wonderful.

As much as I'd like to see more DLC and/or a sequel, "The Old Hunters" addition was a perfect closure.

@jessie82: Some of my favorites to be honest are in DkSIII. Perhaps it's nostalgia holding you in that state of mind?

Regardless I do hope the DLC adds more variety.

@jessie82: To me is the best part of the game. Initially i thought it was pretty easy, i almost didn't die on my first playthrough, but further on NG++ forward is were DS3 truly shines imo, especially the bosses.

I think I'd put True King Allant, or The Old One pretty high on this list because of the "feels". You've through a tough journey to get to this point. You know you're facing the corrupted once-graceful King Allant. The False King -fight was kind of tough, how will this fight be? You face the true king, the once famed king, now twisted, deformed, and despondent. It's a tragedy, it's a shame. The lore is strong. A fantastic and tragic ending to a great game.

Too many 1-on-1 dudes in armor. Where's Tower Knight (yes, technically a dude in armor), Kalameet, Bell Gargoyles, Manus, Executioner's Chariot, Watchdog, Amygdala, and Orphan of Kos?

The only way I could say that I'm "unsatisfied with the picks" is that you had to narrow it down to fifteen instead of somehow picking all of them. This is a testament to just how phenomenal a series FROM has created.

@FinalPreator: It was quite the challenge to narrow down to 15.

You should go check out theDeModcracy on YouTube. He ranked all 139 of them. Its an impressive feat!

Can't believe a boss from a sub-souls game gets the first place. Knight Artorias should be the One, also, Sif should be on the list.

In my opinion, Bloodborne had the best in the series. My biggest complaint about this list, though, is Sinh. He just kept flying all over the place. Kalameet was the best dragon fight. Also, I'd put the Orphan on there too.

@Frenchman081: Bloodborne had some great bosses, but I like a handful of all the games bosses.

Even DkSII, that many hate on. Demon of Song, Hollow Vendrick, and Darklurker being some fun encounters.

Ludwig should be a lot higher because it's an all around epic fight. You're fighting a giant horse monstrosity swinging an overpowered Moonlight Sword at you nonstop lol. Lorian and Lothric Twin Princes should also be much higher (really fun boss fight), and the Abyss Watchers should be swapped out with Dragonslayer Armour. Martyr Logarius deserves more love lol. He is a nightmare for a lot of people (ng+ and higher), but the boss fight and environment alone should've landed him on this list. The Nameless King should've been at #15 due to the camera being the hardest part of the entire fight.

I can't complain though, because your list is pretty much good.
