For the past few weeks, New Releases has claimed that July has games that aren't just remasters or re-releases. This week, it's finally proven true...with the exception of Sonic Mania Plus, but the blue blur's fan base probably won't complain about that one. Fans of cartoony games can also set sail with Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion or smack billiard balls around in Pool Panic. For shooter fans, there's the first-person bullet hell of Mothergunship, and the arcade action of Tempest 4000.

Mothergunship isn't the only shooter firing off this week. Tempest 4000 is a modern take on the Atari arcade classic, with all the pulsing music and flashing neon lights you can handle. With 100 levels to blast through, there's plenty of space for you to zen out as you cruise through this tube shooter. And yes, it will be coming to the Atari VCS later this year too.
Pool Panic -- July 19
Available on: PC, Switch
As you can probably tell by the screenshot, Pool Panic is anything but a simple billiards game. In fact, the developers call it "the world's least realistic pool simulator." Each of the 100-plus levels has its own twist, like roaring grizzly bear balls or a gullible marching band, so you certainly won't be spending your time just sinking balls into corner pockets.
