Top New Games Releasing This Week On Switch, PS4, Xbox One, And PC -- May 20-26

This week is home to heavy hitters like Dark Souls Remastered, State of Decay 2, and Detroit: Become Human.

This week has a couple of violent games, some robots, and a few violent robots. I promise there's still variety here though, from the dodge-rolling Dark Souls Remastered, to the zombie-slaying State of Decay 2, to the decision-making Detroit: Become Human. The Kickstarter bonus Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon arrives too, alongside Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 on Nintendo Switch.

State of Decay 2 -- May 22

Available on: Xbox One, PC

State of Decay 2 is expanding its world, and this time, you can attempt to survive in it with friends in four-player co-op. Together, you can build up your base, level up your people, and travel the world looking for other survivors in need.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 -- May 22

Available on: Switch

The Blue Bomber's adventures are coming to the Switch, and you can download them separately from the Eshop or buy the first on a cartridge with a packed-in download code. Either way, you'll be getting Mega Man's six NES outings and four SNES adventures, plus new remixed challenge levels. You can even scroll through artwork from the series' history in the virtual museum.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon -- May 24

Available on: PS4, Vita, Xbox One, PC, Switch, 3DS

When Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was on Kickstarter, it passed a stretch goal for an additional, 8-bit game. Here it is. Curse of the Moon stars a handful of characters, each with their own abilities you can use to access different parts of the map. Chances are you'll still encounter monsters in just about every corner though.

Dark Souls Remastered -- May 25

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, PC

One of May's most anticipated games is one you might have already played, but Dark Souls is cutting into the current generation with a bunch of quality-of-life and resolution improvements. In fact, you can slay your foes in 4K at 60 FPS if you have a PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, or capable PC.

Detroit: Become Human -- May 25

Available on: PS4

If you're familiar with director David Cage and his studio Quantic Dream, you know his games are all about making tough choices that lead to drastically different consequences. This time, you'll be making those choices for a bunch androids who've just gained sentience. Detroit looks to be a heady game that touches on some deep topics, like what it means to be human.

Why have video game journos started using "quality of life" to refer to tweaks to games? It's a bit weird and off-putting. Maybe not so much as praying to a baby, but still

@id0ntkn0w7: Zero points for a labored effort of shoehorning your disdain for Christianity into a post about video games.

@Arkhalipso: Not really. Read our back-and-forth below and you'll see what I was really reacting to. It just seemed out of place, that's all.

@93ChevyNut: I see you're not a Will Farrell fan. I'm unaware of any non-fictional, non-Nascar people who actually pray to the infant version of Jesus. If you haven't seen Talledega Nights, why would you assume "pray to a baby" refers to Christianity? Surely other deities are portrayed as infants at one point. Anyway, I haven't insulted your beliefs. My crime is referencing a 10-year-old movie that (I thought) everyone had seen.

@id0ntkn0w7: I'm actually a big WF and Talledega Nights fan. And a Christian for that matter. Now that I understand the reference, it makes more sense. In truth, I didn't make that connection so it just seemed like you were trying to insert an unrelated opinion. Much like how some people bring politics into everything.

Also, given that Christianity is the largest single faith in the world and Christians and many non-religious folks celebrate (or at least acknowledge) the day marked as Jesus' birth (Christmas), I don't think it's a stretch to assume Christianity when the phrase "pray to a baby" is said.

Anyhow, I appreciate that this was not vicious conversation. Seems that happens a lot in the GS comments section.

@93ChevyNut: WOW. Did I just witness a religious exchange without any strife? Maybe there IS hope for us. Thanks for keeping it civil.

Another state of Decay for xbox. After Sea of thieves MS got nothing. E3 won't save them just based on where they are going.

@shamatuu257: Xbox doesn't have exclusives because they're also available for PC. So basically Xbox is dead.

@DeadPhoenix86: You fanboys just make it too easy for me.

You do realize that over 95% of games that come out every year are Multiplat, right, (most of which actually look/run better on OneX).

Yes, exclusives are great, but if you did your research you would see that multiplats generally sell better than most exclusives.

So please, continue saying ridiculous things, it makes my day to drop some knowledge on people who have no clue, LOL!

@aross2004: Yet for some reason people prefer a platform that has good exclusives. And Sony is killing it with their exclusives. I'm not a fanboy, since i own a PS4, X1 and PC. I get that MS targeting at a wider audience. But at the same time they're also killing the Xbox brand. And the recent Exclusives are mediocre at best :/

@DeadPhoenix86: you do realize that Microsoft owns Windows right? That these games are running on? Microsoft is giving users a choice. They own Windows. They own Xbox. They’re still getting money when their exclusive sells. It’s about choice. Want to play that game on the couch? Get an Xbox. On a Windows PC? Get it there. They don’t care. They did this on purpose. It’s a “microsoft” exclusive. Think about it.
