@lucyjamesgames. Lucy, whoever helped you keen in on those presentation skills did an awesome job! You're using your subtle mannerisms to great effect and I'm very impressed! Surely, it was a great effort on your part and I've noticed it in your Gamespot of Thrones videos as well. You are certainly becoming a prominent Gamespot personality.

The video quality is still bad from Gamespot. I download content at over 64 mbps and still the frame rate is a slideshow. I find Gamespot's videos are best seen on Youtube rather than watching here on the mainsite.

no they would've lost because thats what the French do - lose wars (including French orcs)

if the British had some orcs on the other hand they would've conquered the entire world and not just one third of it.

@the-games-masta: yep, which is why the brits spoke French for centuries (because the Normans hadn't conquered England), why Britain ruled France (because the French lost the 100 years war), why Napo didn't conquered all of Europe, why Germany won the 1st world war, etc. I hope you're better at games than at military history.... besides, this is an article about orcs, not trolls... otherwise, Lucy, contrary to what you said, Napo's campaign in 1815, which ended at Waterloo, was not an attempt to (again) conquer Europe, at that time he was just looking to settle the best possible peace terms, as he had a ragtag army against all the major powers of the continent (Brits, Prussians, Austrians, Russians)... the brits, wisely, refused...

@maroule: You were just describing France in all of it's glory there right?

Edit: I happen to love France. I've never understood why anyone would prefer their petty pride over such a beautiful country.

@maroule: it was more of an ironic take on an already ludicrous article in the first place. besides, after the victory in 1815 Britain barely ever lost another war and went on build the largest empire the world has ever known whereas France, lost, lost and then lost again, so yeah i do know my military history - you might want to read up

Fair sure Napoleon was dead by "June 16th 1985". He died in 1821.

The history and theory of Warhammer has been altered over the years, but just a little detail for the people here:

1- Orcs wouldn't be scared of "magic fireworks" (ie: guns). They fight enemies with guns all the time. Generally, the guns have a so-so chance of even wounding them.

2- Orks don't actually need to eat for sustenance. If they do eat, it is generally just for show. They are photosynthetic (yes, even the Fantasy ones now).

3- Yeah, Orcs only follow a boss that is bigger and meaner than the rest of them, so they wouldn't follow a 'umie anyway. :)

In Naomi Novik's Temeraire book series Napoleon has dragons, as does everyone else in the conflict. They are intelligent, talking beasts and they provide aerial coverage with bombers, fighters, etc.

I have to say, this video wasn't done very well if it didn't account for basic necessities, such as food and water, which the orcs absolutely require. When they're sitting by their campfires, they're always snacking on something.

Furthermore, would the orcs really follow a short leader, such as Napoleon, in the first place? The orcs would take one look at him, laugh, and kill or desert him. The orcs follow strong leaders who are both physically imposing and possess leadership. Napoleon might have the leadership, but not the physical stature.

This video also didn't take a strong enough look at the weapons and armor both sides would bring. Assuming the orcs don't get scared off by the enemy's "magic" fireworks, the orcs cleavers would shred through foes like butter, since people barely wore protective armor in those days. We also have to wonder, even if an orc was naked, would their rough skin be able to endure a bullet shot? Even if their wounds were fatal, would their bloodthirsty adrenaline be enough to finish out the fight? None of this is explained.

If the conditions are right, the orcs would win easy, but it would require the orcs somehow respecting Napoleon enough to lead them and for the orcs to be properly fed.

If he'd had Orcs, he wouldn't have had many for very long. Those things would each take at least 10,000 calories/day to survive, judging from their size. And they don't look like grazers, so... yeah. There's a good reason people are people-size.

If Napoleon's armies were bigger, stronger and less disciplined, they would have lost worse. Napoleon lost Waterloo because his underlings wouldn't follow orders. He lost most of his cavalry because they thought it was a good idea to charge the Square formations of the British troops.

In a war of manoeuver, discipline was of the utmost importance. What are Orks going to do when they lose half a regiment to grapeshot? Concentrated volley fire would just do what it does to all disorganised forces: rout them. If the British could accomplish Rorke's Drift with 150 men (versus 4000-5000) (to their credit, the Zulu were just coming off the battle of Isandlwana where they massacred the British troops), what do you think Wellington would have done if Napoleon swapped out his crack Guard and his artillery (which was his primary strength) with a disorganised mob of primitives? He would have cut them to ribbons. The world's greatest general can do NOTHING if he troops do not listen to his commands!

Just to put emphasis on this: Napoleon himself demonstrated how well medieval cavalry holds up against 19th century formations: the Battle of the Pyramids. According to Napoleon, 25 French deaths versus 20,000 Mamluk deaths (Spoiler: He was probably lying to self-agrandise; however, no other records with statistics of the battle exist.)

You think a bunch of neo-lithic savages (Orks, had you forgot) with improvised weapons would have done better?
