Westworld Breakdown: Season 2 Episode 3 Virtù e Fortuna

Lucy and Tamoor break down everything from the latest episode of Westworld, from the new park to the mysterious new occupants, and delve deeper into the strange symbols that have been spotted around the show. Beware, spoilers!

Season 2 Episode 3 of HBO’s Westworld is titled “Virtù e Fortuna” which, if you’re up on your Machiavelli, you’ll know relates to the use of "cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous” behaviour in the pursuit of advancing your own goals. That pretty much nails what this episode is about and, amidst the chaos of the rebellion and uprising happening, it’s gripping to watch.

The main focuses of the episode are Dolores and Maeve, who are fighting for their freedom in two very different ways. Dolores continues to amass an army and must take a stand against Delos, which in turn reveals more of her darker side. Maeve, Hector, and Sizemore, meanwhile, find themselves confronting ghosts of a forgotten past. All in all, it’s another fascinating, sharply written episode of Westworld.

As always, there’s plenty to unpack, so Lucy and Tamoor are here to breakdown the episode, pick out all the key moments, analyse the important clues, and discuss the most meaningful developments.

Westworld Season 2 premiered on April 22 on HBO and Sky Atlantic and is set to have 10 episodes.
