The reason I love it is because I am able to vanquish the enemies.

It's simply just good! This goes to show that so many great games under the radar. If people look passed the yearly COD's and other popular but mediocre games they will find games with phenomenal gameplay and/or story. But in the end most gamers are casuals and will go for what's heavily advertised.

Looks like a classic badass! The gameplay looks amazing! Can't tell the same about the storyline since the sci-fi games doesn't deliver as wanted.

Wasn't this game like kind of on-rails or something, or had weird controls? I can't remember exactly, there was something about it right off the bat that I wasn't liking when I played the demo back on 360 years ago.

I think its overrated . It suffers from the same problems all platinum games have . Ridiculus story, characters with wierd hard to place accents, cheese lines etc. It looks great and it is stylish but the game mechanics are getting reperative after a while ( thankfully its preaty short)

@blejk2: Fair points: however Vanquish is one of the only third person shooters I've played which tries to evolve the formula in terms of how you move.

@blejk2: Platinum Games' stuff is more about replayability and mechanics mastery than story (Although The Wonderful 101 is genuinely one of the funniest video games I've played).

They're definitely not to be played for story. :P They're more about perfecting your score and getting good at the mechanics.

@jumpaction: I've never once played a game for the story. I couldn't care less about the story. All I want out of a videogame, is good gameplay.

@RaveNRolla: Are you talking about "God Hard" mode that you unlock after finishing the game? I gave up on that. It doesn't even seem possible.

@Zombie8814: no, i'm talking about the challenge missions after you beat the story. there are 5 initially and then a 6th after you beat the 5. each mission has 4-5 waves if i remember correctly. that 6th mission is insanely hard and the only trophy still missing for me.

@cherub1000: yes, i tried it a lot, i think it might be the hardest trophy i ever saw. from time to time i think about giving it another shot, but then i think i haven't played this game in years and i would suck way more at the challenge than i did back then.

This is one of the game which I bought it and didn't get a chance to play because around that time I started playing Oblivion and it took my whole time. Probably play it at some point.

Good game , just far too short which was a shame. Vanquish 2 would have been great though had they decided to do one.

Vanquish combat does get rather samey though after a while probably why it is short.

we love it because it's a fucking great game... why even make a fucking movie about it? few people bought it because it had a shitty release window.

It would be great if SEGA released this on PS4 and X1. Fanboys like me will buy it again, and it will help the budget push for a true sequel. It's a short (but sweet) game, but just like Metal Gear Rising, I played through it multiple times. Damn, I really want another MGR too, though it probably won't happen, unless it's a stupid pachinko machine. You suck Konami. Love you SEGA and Platinum.

Movie stops playing at around 3:54... I'm starting to wonder why I keep coming back to this site. Mostly habit I suppose.

Bought the game when it came out. It was fun, but not worth the price given that it had no replay value and no multiplayer. The game was refreshing simply in that it was an original IP for once

@andfx8: it had the challenge modes which few rarely touch, but those were topnotch challenges and the game is a challenge/skill based game, the better you play the more fun it is.

Vanquish is a very sega sort of game; a somewhat under-exposed, rough around the edges gem of a game. I feel it belongs to a legacy of classic action games like gunstar heroes and contra

@Zombie8814: because quite clearly there wasn't an over-stuffed presentation or story to unpack in this game. rough around the edges in the sense that the focus of the game is slanted towards the gameplay rather than a convincing or enticing presentation - an unusual notion in many western games. We hardly know or barely like the characters....unless you enjoy gruff military men spitting entendres about homoerotic anal sex...and we really don't care, the game is sold on the premise of being able to flick a cigarette at a robot and then shoot its legs out from under it, while its' electronically distressed torso crawls towards you in the hopes of fulfilling its' one final protocol
