GAMECAMILLER review- Viewtiful Joe 2(GCN) bottom line- 9.25/10 A Grade of "A" 9/10 concept: This is the long awaited sequel to one of the best games of 2003, Viewtiful Joe. This time Capcom gives fans more of what they love, and gives players the option of uses Joe or Sylvia, with the "viewtiful touch button" (the Z button on your controller). There are various difficulties added to (two are they when you start the game) and the added feature "36 Chambers of Viewtiful Joe", which is basically a challenge quest for our Red Hero. The game features all the old VFX powers (Slow, Speed, and Zoom), plus anew one for Sylvia, which is called "Replay". With that move Sylvia can repeat a move (such as a kick) up to three time. From the game cover box: "Narrowly escaping Captain Blue's Movieland, Joe now battles his way through Movieworld on a quest to defeat the evil Black Emperor and foil his nefarious plans for world domination. But this time, Joe's not fighting alone! Tired of playing damsel in distress, Sylvia’s taken on the role of super-heroine with lethal pom poms and a deadly laser gun and a special VFX Replay Power. With their combined power and the aid of the Six Machine’s new forms, Joe ands Sylvia are sure to kick some viewtiful butt!" Sound: 10/10 The music and theme's are unmistakable. and the voice acting is hilarious. You will have a great time hearing the game as well as listening to this game. controls- 10/10 The controls on the cube are perfect, and you never feel like your at a lost when playing them. And the combo system is even better then in the first game! 9with more moves unlocked by purchasing them in the shop after each level in the game. Difficulty: depends on the level you play it at (Kids, adults, V-rated and so on) graphics- 9.5/10 One thing that always stood out at me is the fact that the graphics on this game scream Viewtiful. rarely does a game have it's own graphical style, but these new franchise has been honored with obtaining a graphics style all it's own. and after you play the game you'll realize that you would not want to see our red hero any other way. replay ability- average Extras- 8.0 This game has a lot more unlockables the first one. Such as the unlockables 36 chambers, extra characters, and various difficulties. its not a lot of unlockables like some games, but it's easy replayablity makes up for this easily. Entertainment 9/10 the great thing about this game is the fact that it's just so darn enjoyable by everyone. Your get a kick out of the funny moments, love when you pull off the fighting moves, and just want to play it again and again due to the fact that the game is so darn enjoyable. My only problem with the game is the fact that it really doesn't bring anything new to the table after the first game. The problem is completely minor however, due to Capcom giving us more of what we like, and that's action, comedy and more viewtiful moments. Capcom is maybe one of the smartest companies around. Why you ask? Cause when they find something that works, they never leave it. Look at street fighter. Look at Mega man franchise. Look at Resident evil. Sure they have “evolved" but they learned the art of keeping the "heart and soul" of what made the game so darn enjoyable in the first place and always make sure that it's in it's sequels. All I can say is, after laying this game, I can’t wait to see what more may come from the Viewtiful Joe Franchise. GCN (for ps2 and XBOX as well) $40-50
