Another classic from Capcom

Old beat-em-up style games have never been my favorite, I've always just found them too repetitive. However Capcom has changed my mind with Viewtiful Joe. You play as your average joe who loves movies but when your girlfriend, Sylvia, literally gets sucked into the movie its time to put on your costume and rescue her. The game has psuedo-3d environments with a 2d perspective and the gameplay is fast and engaging. There are some movie inspired special effects that you can gain such as, Speed up,Slow down and zoom in. These add to the charm and can really help you out in a pinch. You also need to use these power ups to gain more "Viewtiful" points that with you can purchase health upgrades, etc. With the addition of these powerups the game doesnt feel stale and adds some replay value to see just how differently you can beat each level. One thing I didnt really care about in this game was the humor. I found it kinda childish, and Joe's catch-phrase does get kind of annoying at times. I also found the two difficulty levels a pain. They are "kids" and "adults only" basically mean "easy and hard mode. The "adults only" mode isnt too hard until you get to the later levels but the addition of a medium difficulty setting would have been much apperciated. Overall Capcom has changed my mind on how I view beat-em-ups and I would reccommend this game to any old school gamer or newcomer to the scene.
