A good car shooter, but it won't entertain you for long.

User Rating: 7 | Vigilante 8 GBC
Gameplay: In Vigilante 8, you choose a character and face up against other characters, but don't expect actual fighting, instead, you drive around, shooting at your enemies' cars.
The game is fun, once you get used to the controls. I say this because they feel a bit clunky at first, and there isn't a tutorial or anything to explain what to do, so you'll have to figure out by yourself(or by using the instruction manual, which you're likely to not have anymore) that you can grab better weapons and different powerups to kill your enemy faster. There's also some powerups to recover some life.
It isn't that hard to figure out though, and once you get that, it's only you against the computers(or the controls).
There are 5 different single player modes, but they all play the same. The main mode is called Road Trip, and it's a storyline adventure where you fight other cars. It's not rewarding, but at least it's fun. The other modes are a little generic. Survival, Time Attack, Arcade, and Progressive make the list, and as I said, they all play the same, with minor differences.
There's also a multiplayer, which I've heard is really nice, but honestly, I haven't had the chance to play it.
The game features a rumble cartridge, which is nice. The rumble effect is well done.
Overall, fun, but not substantial enough.

Presentation: The graphics are nice, and the sound effects are OK(they do their job). Sometimes you can hear the characters' voices, which is really nice, because they sound great for a GBC game. Not much else to say about it, except it lacks music in the levels, which takes off some points.
7/10

Replay Value: Well, there's not much replayability to this once you beat the main game, which by the way has no continues, but is short. Unless you really like the game, or have someone to play with, there's not much lasting appeal to be found.
6/10

Fun: I had some fun with this, but not much. I didn't like it as a kid, and now, my thoughts about it have changed, but it's still not that fun. However, it is still good to pick up and play if you're bored.
7/10

Overall: A good game, even though it lacks content. Not really worth a buy though, due to its short length and almost non-existent soundtrack.
