Fun and enthralling
Vindictus has great animation, offering an extremely cinematic experience. In addition, it is streamlined to keep lag to a minimum, keeping the game running as smoothly as possible. This seems to be done by relying heavily on the computer of the user, so if a battle is hosted by a player with a poor connection, the instance will be laggy. However, this usually isn't the case.
The combat itself is the strongest element in the entire game. Right off the bat, you are running down hallways, slashing your way through evil monsters and facing off against a giant spider. As the game progresses, instead of wandering across a massive world crawling with monsters, you hang out in a small town called Colhen, which is your hub from which you access every combat instance in the game. Most mmos have the problem of being very time consuming with rather pointless activities, like traveling or seeking out obscure items. Vindictus completely avoids this, keeping you in the action at all times.
Unfortunately, the game has a habit of repeating itself in many ways. Often times, the same combat instance will repeat, with varying groups of similar monsters. However, the boss fights are complicated and difficult, offering a very exciting combat experience. In addition, the story makes you feel like a heroic warrior, saving humanity from crazy threats.
Unfortunately, the game suffers in that it lacks elements outside of combat. Character customizations are limited to class, so your preferred fight style will determine your in game gender. In addition, the craft system is very expensive and monotonous, making it far more economical to simply buy everything from the market. Since money is very easy to obtain, this is a rather good way of working.
Despite all this, the game is still very fun, and will likely keep your attention for a good amount of time. And since its free, why not give it a shot?
