I don't get what Sega are trying to achieve with this.
Quest mode is a challenging mode where you go around the Virtua world and challenge people in fights in arcades. You are one character throughout the whole game, and you can customise the character by buying clothes and stuff and you can even buy things like pictures and different end-to-fight sequences. I think that was a brilliant idea as other better games than this have copied the whole customisation thing. Quest mode is the mode where you unlock the most boring special character in the history of fighting games, Dural, who is crap.
I bought this games because I looked at all the reviews on this site - everyone basically said: "This game is better than Tekken". I started playing this game and I hated it. The fighting is way too slow. I know that they are trying to make this game realistic, but it's almost in slow motion. When a fighter falls down, they float in the air for about five seconds. Also, this game is extremely limited in terms of characters and fighting commands. There are way more in games like Tekken and Mortal Kombat. There are about 12 characters and 1 special who is rubbish anyway and only about 10 fighting moves or combos that are actually possible to do.
The graphics is rubbish - I can't stress this enough. I don't believe all the good reviews telling me that it's graphics is any good. You could film a bunch of Lego people fighting and they would look less square and more realistic than this. Face it people, the graphics are prtty bad (take a look at the screenshots). Also, when a character talks at the end of a bout, their mouths hardly move. What's up with that? Their voices don't even sound like what you think they should sound like. Value for money? Well if you are planning on completing the game, you get quite a lot considering it is only a fiver.
This game started to grow on me, but then I bought Soul Calibur and I never played this game again. Overall, I do not like this game, but yet, I don't hate it. It has put me off the rest of the games coming out in the Virtua Fighter series. If anything had to be made better, it would have to be...everything!
Thanks for reading, Jem.
