The original and best ?

I got this 6 mounths ago out of gamestation for £ 1 and have played it quite a bit, and while dated in terms of graphics it still has it in terms of gameplay.
In the game theres not really that much to do in it except fight the computer or if you can get someone round to play with you :have a couple of fights with them (but they will probbly laugh at the games boxy graphics and then refuse to play after a couple of rounds.-.-)
One thing I would have liked to see in this game was a trainig mode so you can practice each character moves(of which there are loads of) in isolation, but you can kinda remedy this by playing a two player match with mr nobody.
On the whole the game however does feature a wide variety of options to it which allow you to modify the character and stage textures, change the stage sizes, character health levels, round time, the stage size and even play the game at 3 times the speed(very fun-but difficult against the CPU)all of which add to the game and give you some things to play around with.
All of these options would be irrelaivant however if the game wasnt good to play and in that respect the game certainly succedes. Its classic VF stuff ,You have a button to kick a button to block and a button to punch. And its this streamlined control scheme that makes Virtua fighter what it is -easy to pick up but with tons of moves for each character hard to master and full of variety.
In addition one thing which I really love about this Virtua fighter game and pretty much the whole serries in general is the characters. They have a sort of ballanced feel to them with no one being perticularly stronger than another . All of them feature moves which are easy to use and moves that are really for experts only. This means that unlike most fighting games you will probbly find your self experimenting and trying to learn most of the characters in the game and using them all equally.
You know the Virtua Fighter serries is kinda weird. I have this and the 2nd one for the PC the 3rd on for the Dreamcast and the 5th(the newest one... Well right now anyway)for the PS3 and whilst most people say there all pretty much the same game they all have a really different feel to them and I love them all for differnt reasons.
.the first one for its boxy simple character designs and somewhat cheery( not really the right word I know) atmosphere
.The seccond one for its awesome music and overall feel
.The 3rd for its cool shaped stages, funny sidestep button and Taka(the awesome big sumo guy)
.and the 5th because its the best graphicly and has lots of characters and modes
In conclusion if you can get this game pretty cheap and are virtua fighter fan you owe it to your self to try the original and test your skills on arcade mode at 3x speed.
If you arent you will probbly still enjoy it
