This proves how bad Tennis games can get ....
Graphics (4/10)
Graphics wise the game is average. Top players like Nadal, Fedex etc look quite like their counterparts. The courts, ball boys, environment looks are so-so.
Sound (5/10)
Sounds are average too, players grunts, hitting or bouncing of ball, announcer are pretty much recycled from the previous game, i guess.
Gameplay (3/10)
This is were the game really lags. There's the normal exhibition matches, mini games(playing from the main menu,that is,) and finally World Tour.
I read the manual before playing the game and was absolutely thrilled and excited to play World tour. It boasted of so many features, i was awe of it. But when i selected world tour and started playing, i realized this is the worst possible way i could waste my time.
The character creation has very very limited options, the presets look old, so your outcome character would like in his mid 50's. The mini games are back, some of it are pirate wars, 9-ball etc, which is fun at first (kinda a saving grace), which gets boring after sometime.
The opponent AI is incredibly bad at the earlier stages, meaning you can win the point within a maximum of 2-3 rallies. There is a shop where you can buy T-shirts, shorts, shoes etc. In order to participate in a doubles tournament, you have to first defeat a player in order to unlock him/her as your partner. This looks nice in paper but bad in the game. The partner AI can be controlled, like can be made to be in base line or be a volleyer. This feature is the only good thing in the game.
To sum it up, i have never played such a bad Tennis game or make it such a bad sports game before. Please please stick to Top Spin 2, or at the least Virtua tennis 3. Only buy this if you want to kiss your money good bye, or waste your time the worst possible way.
