Not as good as Virtua Tennis 3. World Tour mode blows.......
VT 2009 was my most anticipated game of 2009 and as always the higher the anticipation the worser the game turns out to be.
Virtua Tennis 2009 has just a few improvements over VT 3. The dive has been removed. You can do running passing shots and make leethal returns. The music is again Great. The game makes use of music from VT1, 2, 3 and its own few new ones.
The World Tour mode is Pathetic. You are 150 in Amateur. You work your way Slowly and i mean really SLOWLY to no.1 and then you are offered the Professional mode. You say Yes and the worst possible thing happens. You are pushed down back to no.150 and have to again crawl your way up. Oh and professional mode ranking incrementation is even more SLOWER. And you will have someone like Mario Ancic as no.1 and Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as no.10 and 11 resp. WTF! Rankings are total bullsht.
King and Duke in VT3 were a real challenge and it was also impossible to defeat them without your underhand serve. But here i defeated both in 2 minutes flat. This game is TOO EASY compared to VT3. Also World Tour mode here, you need to buy stuffs unlike in VT3 where stuffs got unlocked nicely. Stuffs to buy are crap. Headgear has Hat, Hogan cap and all sorts of stupid silly things. But it doesn't have a simple thing like a Bandana of custom color or a proper Cap. Very Disappointing.
There was a time i found VT3's very hard mode tough but then i have mastered is so well that i really wanted something more. VT 2009's Very Hard mode is a disgrace and even VT3's Normal mode is more tougher than VT 2009's Very Hard Mode.
You must be wondering that they mentioned about the Tournament Mode (where you can play any grand slam tournament) or the Davis Cup. Davis Cup is found in World Tour mode and absolutely SUCKS. You will be the only guy in the end lifting the cup. The other guys simply disappear. The tournament mode is total garbage. You have girls as well as guys. So don't get a heart attack like i did, if you have to beat murray in the quarters, nadal in the semis and have to face Sharapove in the finals.
Overall this game is very disappointing and boring for me. But i still enjoy playing multiplayer with my friend but then again not as much as i enjoyed the diving and some smashing glitches in VT3.
SEGA, if you are making a next VT take atleast 4-5 years, please get back the World Tour mode of VT 3 and please make some MORE.....i mean really more improvements.
