If your into Tennis then its great...if your not, still great!
As far as sports games go, just about anyone can pick up this game and in 2 minutes be right at home. Although as a big tennis fan I wish the controls were deeper, I have to admit, seeing my sister-in-law playing this game was down right fun. Graphics - Some have complained about the charactizations and I have to admit, some are pretty darn comical. But...the personalities are spot on. If you follow tennis then you will actually feel like you are playing your fav tennis star. The courts are also nice to look at, and they do a good job of offering up several variations. Even the line judges move as they should which for me was pretty cool.
Gameplay - Simple...maybe to simple, but once you get the hang of it...nice. Oh and if you suffer from the "Nintendo Thumb" syndrome or what ever they call it, then dont play. Ouch on the thumbs for me! Player vs. Player - A blast and well worth the cost of the game itself.
Player vs Comp - ehhhh so so. I actually found it much easier than the reviews I have read and found myself hitting number one and thinking "huh...is this it? game over?." Even at a harder level I still found the AI a bit weak. Why am I playing some of the top ranked players in the world during the first round of a local tournament and beating them 6-0 6-0 6-0? It should be a reward to play the big players and only in the majors.
Training - If you have played any of the Fight NIght games then you are aware of the Train and Gain principal. This game however, offers training and talent allocation in a way that I found to be a little boring. Actually incredibly difficult at time to. And no options for buying gear...No sponsorships, etc. Storyline - Very lame...they tried their best to offer up the French open but it just didnt seem like it.
Ok, so its not the best tennis sim in the world but its definitely one of the best tennis games out there and it is well worth the $ if you have someone to play against. For all of your friends who tell you that Madden or Tiger Woods is "just to complicated"...invite them over and have some fun.
