DoW II Is but a shell of a great RTS series.
DoW II once again puts you in charge of the Space Marines as they attempt to exterminate the scum of the universe. The campaign takes place in Sub-Sector Aurelia located on the edge of the Imperiem of Man, once these worlds become under attack from alien invaders the Blood Raven Chapter step up to defend their chapters secrets and honer.
The campaign features some excellent voice overs that really fit in with the game and it's atmosphere, you will also notice that the visuals in DoW II are very impressive making this one of the best looking games out on the PC to date. The campaign is lengthy and should take you a good couple of hours to complete it on your first run through. It is easy to say that the campaign mode is what really makes this game despite only being able to use 4 squads per mission.
After the exciting and lengthy campaign DoW II just goes down hill. There are so many bad things with this game that just simply cannot be overlooked.
DoW II features boring skirmish and multiplayer modes, in these modes you have a HQ building and 2 turrets. You can build units from your HQ building to help you continue the fight against the enemy, you can no longer place Listening Posts on your captured points to help protect them making it hard to defend multiple points at the same time, your squad cap is also to low, you will run out of room in your cap after building 5 or so squads making most battles small, these just add to the dull and boring new gameplay style.
Overall DoW II isn't the worst game ever but it is far from even a good game. The very few good things about this game aren't enough to save it from its boring, dull RPG style gameplay.
Stay away from this game if you can but if you must play it, get the demo and nothing more.
