A classic real time strategy game. Definetly worth it if you like science-fiction and war games.
So the campaign has 11 missions. The game is about a fight between 4 races: the brutal and hungry for war Orks; the technologically advanced Eldar, the brave and loyal Space Marines; and the evil and cruel Chaos Space Marines. Also the Imperial Guard appears, allies of the Space Marines, but you can only see some infantry and tanks from this faction. Unfortunately you can only play with the Space Marines during the campaign. If you want to try the other races you will have to go to play a skirmish. The campaign is nice, original, but might I say a bit dull. If you want me to describe the missions of the game without spoiling anything it would be like this:Before every mission you get a personal space log of Captain Gabriel Angelos, leader of the Space Marines. At the start of the mission you get a cut-scene. Then during the mission you build your base and a lot of troops and kill the enemies. At the end, you get another cut-scene. Mission over.
Now I know that most strategy games are somewhat like this. But I would have expected something a bit more entertaining. But I must admit that the actual story of the game compensates for this.
Furthermore I am obliged to say that the game play is very nice. I will talk more about the game play during the campaign, and by that I mean I will tell you about the game play with the Space Marines.
From my point of view your most important unit are the actual space marines. Because after you build a certain number of squads, after you upgrade them with all the weaponry possible, after you make all the upgrades for their armor, you can win any mission, without needing any other sort of troops. But this is not how encourage you to play the game. I encourage you to play this game at maximum, experiencing all the possible ways to beat your enemy. I am saying this because you do not have only the space marine unit. There are high number of vehicles you can use(and by that I mean tanks, dreadnoughts and so on)but also a larger number of infantry units you can use(here I will only mention the terminator squad, the most powerful unit of the Space Marines).
To build an army, you need resources. There are 2 types:power and requisition. Power you can get by building Plasma Generators. Also you can build Thermo Plasma Generators, which generate more power, on certain places on the map named Slag Deposits. Requisition is made from your stronghold, which is your main building, but in order to increase the income rate you have to capture Strategic Points and Relics. Moreover Relics are very important because they allow you to build the most powerful unit from your faction, like the terminator squad from the Space Marines.
So in conclusion if you are a Warhammer 40k fan, like me, this game will surely work for you, as it did for me.
