Great for the casual PvP gamer, but for anyone past that it will only last for 2 or 3 months

When i first started playing this game about 5 months ago i thought to myself, "My god, this PvP system is awesome and this is really innovative!"

I immediately quit WoW since i was looking for something a little better in the PvP category, and yes you will find that the PvP in this game is much more balanced and fun than in WoW. However, the fact that there is NOTHING besides PvP makes this game pretty short lived for a hardcore gamer.

I will start off at the beginning of my journey. Leveling was a blast the first time through, I will say that. The fact that EVERYTHING you do contributes to your players experience bar is really a great idea. You could join Scenarios (for you WoW players, those are the WAR equivalent of BG's) at any level and be thrown into a Scen and get right to PvP and gain levels while you do. You can also do something called RvR, which is like Wintergrasp in WoW, basically its a huge battle field on every map that will start a full on war between 2 factions: lots of fun. Lastly, of course you can quest and group up to do Player Quests to level as well. This seems all great at first and it really makes the leveling a blast.

Once you get to endgame, you will have a mixed reaction depending on what kind of player you are. Theres two "levels" which describe your character. There is ranks, which is basically your experience level like in other games, and there is renown ranks, which you level from doing PvP. Since there is nothing useful in crafting in the game, no dungeons, and no raids to speak of which majorly advance your char, ALL you have to do is grind your renown rank. Keep in mind that there are several ways to do this, there are Scenarios, RvR, and taking cities.

The worst part is, the renown rank takes INCREDIBLY long to level. Getting to rank 40 is no big deal, but getting to renown rank 80 (the cap) is a HUGE deal. So huge in fact that most the people i know quit before they even get a character to it.

The grossly long grind to renown rank 80 combined with doing the same thing over and over and over and over just gets old for those hardcore gamers. I can see how the people who only get on for 10 or 12 hours a week stay with it, but for those that like to get on at least 5 or 6 hours a day, it wont take long for the boredom to kick in.

This doesnt have to do with how the game plays, but what also brings this game down is its player base, or lack there of. The player base has been steadily declining over-time and that is NOT good for a game that depends on many people working together for endgame AND leveling. This decline has been particularly bad in just the past few months. Leveling to 40 is not as fun as it used to be due to the fact that anything past the first leveling area is desolate. Scenarios used to pop within 10 minutes while at ANY level but that is not the case anymore. From levels 1-11 scenarios will pop pretty frequently in prime time due to trial members, but after that it just drops off. 12-22 scenarios will pop once every 40 or 50 minutes IN PRIME TIME, and dont expect to do any scenarios from 23-33 even during prime time. 33-40 (endgame tier) does pop even more frequently than tier 1 but getting there is a pain now. And to top it off if your playing between 11 P.M and 10 A.M. (i.e. not prime time) then dont expect to get any Scenario pops or to even see any other players whatsoever, no matter what level you are. I have only scratched the surface of this problem with Scenarios, you wont be able to RvR or group at all due to the fact that the areas past 1-11 are completely desolate. The only thing that will ever kill this game is the player base itself once it gets to such a low number, especially with this being such a player base dependant game.

The game is very innovative in the way it implements leveling through PvP and once you get enough people city raids are extremely fun, well for the first 10 times at least... All in all, if you are a casual gamer who likes the idea of a strict PvP MMORPG then Warhammer is for you, but if you are a hardcore gamer like myself then dont say i didnt warn you.
