Let´s all get noobish and dance.
Initial impression:
Huzzah! I can jump around in this game too!
Second impression:
/stuck, /stuck, /stuck, /stuck, /stuck, /stuck, /stuck...
Im sure you´ve read all the basics about this game, info about the graphics, system demands, lore, the going rate per month etc. etc., so let´s skip all those boring details, and get straight to the interesting bits.
Get your damn dirty paws off me, human! I´m talking about WAR!
First off, when you say something in /SAY, don´t expect anyone to answer you. People just flat out don´t care. I pretty much had to reveal my gender before anyone even started remotely caring about what i had to contribute with. Which will eventually lead to less-than-gnarly skype conversations. So don´t follow my example, kids.
In essence, the community sucks. Atleast, until you get into a proper guild. That´s where the fun starts! You defend or storm keeps, tag flags, confront other warbands from the opposing faction and just generally kill and jump around a lot, while trying to sweet-talk your 20mbit broadband into not giving up the ghost just yet.
There are some lag issues, not a whole lot, but there are definitely some, and they will become a nuisance sooner or later, regardless of what connection you´re packing, so you might aswell just get used to that thought. As of... Now.
You probably played loads of WoW, and now you´re thinking WotLK is E-Z-mode, and you´re gunning for some real prozz0r action, right? Well, you won´t find it here, the noob-factor is just as blatant and apparent in WAR as in WoW. Oh, and WAR still feels like it´s in BETA stage. So much content missing, so many bugs, glitches, abuses. The devs should have just waited another 6 months with the release, instead of this half-arsed mumbo-jumbo. Soiling the good name of games workshop. *hangs head in shame*
Anyways, there are definitely some positive things about this game that i would like to emphasize:
It all takes place within the universe of warhammer. That´s definitely something that makes this game worthwhile playing if you´re a fan.
Drawback: If you´re not a fan, other than the oRVR, this game provides nothing special or unique compared to other mmorpg´s. Atleast nothing worth paying for every month. That´s entirely subjective tho, but haey, you´re reading MY review, so there.
What is oRvR? I thought you read the basics, go read up on it, it´s actually pretty entertaining. Atleast, up until the point where you realize how immensely boring it is playing a mpds class and just hammering away at two doors in succession with the same 3 hotkeys over and over again for 10 min straight, 10-15 times a day. Oh, and you don´t really need to hotbind your keys, pretty much every cast is on universal cooldown, so even a keyboardturning mouseclicker can perform quite well in this game. If i say "lowest common denominator" and you feel as if you can relate to that phrase in some special way, this game is for you.
I´m gonna´ go play some Aion now, laters.
Yes, it´s that time of month.
