User Rating: 7 | Wario World GC
No game in the HISTORY of video games has screamed any louder "RENTAL" than Wario World. Wario World begins to normal Wario game plot introduction: Wario has had all his treasure from his castle turned into monsters, and that greedy Son of a Gun is out to reclaim it! Sure, the plot won't win any awards, but neither would the game that goes with it. Graphics: 7 Wario World's graphics come as a mixed bag. While the scenery and player models are crisp and clean, and wonderfully colored, they aren’t very detailed. The levels are a tad bland and cookie-cutter, and some of the movements of the units are stale and robotic. Sound: 7 The sound in Wario World is standard fare for Plat-Formers: Catchy, up-beat tunes, interesting cries growls from foes, and a few One-Liners from Wario as he finishes off an Enemy. If you have ever played a Plat Former, you've heard it all before. Value: 5 Wario World is very short, and very easy. It is quite apparent that they had a younger audience in mind while making this game. Your foes are easy to trounce and the puzzles come at medium difficulty when at they’re hardest. Also, you can "buy" continues when you die from the gold you get from defeating enemies. And trust me, you get a lot of gold from your fallen foes. Not once in the entire game did I ever come close to getting a Game Over, and only hit a snag in a few spots. Gameplay: 7 Wario World, on it's own merits, is a pretty decent game. Wario has a surprisingly large arsenal of wrestling-inspired moves at his disposal, and the levels are rather well set together. Its mix of 3d action with 2D side scrolling is blended perfectly, which is one of the main reasons Wario World Gains such a high score in the gameplay. Short length, easy difficulty, and some un-inspired graphics hurt the score. Tilt: 7 Wario Ware is the King of all Rental Games. It has a short enough length to complete within a casual gamer's week, easy enough for a gamer of any age to enjoy, and an arsenal of moves to keep the plat forming from going stale. Pick this game up at your local video store, not your gaming retailer.
