Fun-as-hell dungeon crawler
Graphics: My first impression was BAD. My first character was the barbarian, and when i first saw his bland ugly textures, and his horrendous animation i felt like 'huh...another 50 bucks threw to the sewer'. But, after playing a long, and selecting another character (Dark seeker and amazon are good looking and well animated :) ) i kinda enjoyed it. Also, there is a some abusive use of fog, but, given the case that it is a dungeon crawler, it help in the 'what's-behind-that-corner' feeling. Sound: Nothing to mention here, there are few songs, but some of them are kinda enjoyable. Sound of slashes, enemies dying, etc it's good but gets monotone after a while
Gameplay: Well, given the fact that the gameplay is simple (go to that dungeon, kill them all, go to another dungeon...), some of the design choices made it greatly enjoyable. First of all, the load times are the shortest i've ever seen (maybe 2 - 5 seconds on a UMD!!), so the the pace keeps high. Also, the traditional japanese combo system (two buttons for attack, [_] for light attack, /\ for heavy attack), gives the opportunity of a vast number of combos available (and you can continue your normal combos with your special skill, pressing L + a button), and chaining deaths for XP bonus.
The game gives you the ability to synthesize the weapons and shields you looted during your dungeon runs, to add 'blessings' to your equipped weapon/shield/armor (a.k.a. alchemy). That gives the chance to fully customize your equipment.
The game includes a well-crafted cooperative mode via ad-hoc, that is specially fun to play (i'm playing this with a friend, in the hardest dungeon of all, and it's reaaaally addictive)
Though the game has only been released in Asia, it includes english language, so if you are planning to import it, don't doubt it. It's one of the more addictive RPG on the PSP
