We Love Katamari. A bold and slightly over-zealous title, no doubt, but once you try it, you may actually agree with it.

The original Katamari was one of the better PS2 games of the last year; does this one live up to the hype? Well, yes and no. First, the parts that do live up to the hype. The game plays very much like the first game; actually, it plays exactly the same, nothing new here, and that's not a bad thing at all. You're once again you're charged with the task of rolling around a large, sticky ball (called a Katamari), picking up as much random crap as possible. At the beginning of every level, you're given a size to meet and a time limit to finish it within. If you've played Katamari Damacy before, you know all about this. Your heaping pile of crap will then be turned into a star by your flamboyant father, The King of All Cosmos, who is arguably one of the best videogame characters ever. Moving on, you probably want to know about the game's soundtrack. After all, the soundtrack was one of the best things about the first Katamari game. Well, I'm happy to say that the soundtrack is just as good, if not better than the original. While a select few songs can get a bit annoying, most of them are pretty damn good. Now, moving on to the bad. Sadly, the graphics haven't improved at all since the original. Sure, they're still fine and they fit the game just fine, but they're not much sharper or higher resolution than the first one. Luckily, that's about my only gripe with the game, and it's not even a big one. If you liked Katamari Damacy, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up.
