The New GameSpot

Any update on this? Is Gamespot going to / in the process of rebuilding the site?

It's been like 8 months now and this site still barely works.

All the current Gamespot employees can go to hell. You fucked this site up so bad it'll never recover. I sure miss the Greg Kasavin, Jeff Gerstmann, Ryan Davis and Brad Shoemaker days of this site. Greg ran Gamespot better than all you retards put together. The forums are all dead now, there is almost ZERO community interaction and the current editors - save for Kevin Van Ord - are terrible at reviewing games. You can't even find games anymore because of the awful new search engine. Try typing 'Halo', and it doesn't even have the original Xbox game listed! What a fucking joke! I hope CBS fires everyone involved with this awful redesign. You destroyed what was once the best gaming site on the web.

I hoped. I really hoped. I waited. But no, you never fixed anything. And you do not want to fix anything. Well, there are no any gaming sites any more (IGN? Giant bomb? give me a break!). Almost none. After Moby games was ruined in the same way as GS, a guy just bought it. Yes! Bought it and reversed to the old design that works. With a huge and searcheable database of games. I hope someone buys you, GS. At least someone buys the old game database and makes it public and searcheable. Really searcheable, on GENRES! And this new crappy site of yours... You keep it. It was a good time, but you screwed it up. For good.

My daughters would like to think they're princesses but, alas, they're not. Anyway... You haven't listened to our feedback for a very long time... At least, not for the important stuff. To mention a few: Your rating scales are still the same and YOUR (current)WEBSITE SUCKS.

"A slick design that adapts to your platform"

I'm not sure which platform you're using, but the new GameSpot doesn't behave correctly on the desktop computer or mobile.

"The latest chapter" of GameSpot is a HUGE let down, for myself as well as countless other fans of the previous site, as made evident by the outcry of disappointment across the forums.

Not even your video player works correctly; like everything else it lags and sometimes doesn't even load the correct videos, or throws 500 errors. It's funny, really.

But don't worry, we're not going anywhere, IGN's site is still worse. In the mean time we'll put up with your 1, 2, 3 minute page loads, though not for much longer. It's amazing but true, this is 2014 and your site performs in such a matter.

Shame on your web developers.

WTF you thinking!? You destroyed the previous, and seemingly easy to navigate, website for this crap! I can't even search games of a specific category or genre anymore!? You NEED to fix this ASAP and stop trying to reinvent the wheel guys!

I have to add my 2 cents. Game Spot of old? WAY WAY better. It's not about change. It's about fucking up something that was not only NOT broken, but WAS awesome! You guys really screwed the pooch.

This new site sucks so god damn hard, i cant find any information here that I used to come to the site for, Im done. Use IGN and do yourselves a favor. Plus..... they gave Gone Home a 9.5..... so its quite clear they have no idea what they are talking about either

Still today is a TERRIBLE WEB, I can't find the play button for reviews, now the rating goes 8 9 10 you can't put a 8.5, EVERYTHING IS MESSED UP, I used to enter Gamespot several times a day and now not even once a day.
I want the old Gamespot, this new one SUCKS.

Why don't they ask us users if we like the new layout? We don't. There are so many problems with this new layout.

Right now I can't even read game reviews from other users. I was a big fan of this site, not anymore.

Ok i understand they wont change it back to the good old site that all loved so lets try to give them tips about how to make the new one less horrible.
For example one thing i really dont like is all the big pictures all around the site , videos pics links its a big mess , its ok to use new features with the new technology but not just spamm it all around. When i enter a gaming site i wanna see everything in a small messure to have a control over the site , where is what etc... and not get blown away by those big graphical features that explode my screen away, need tons of scrolling and well hope you got the point +- what i talk about.

They tried to copy IGN design, but they failed, I had always prefer GameSpot above IGN, but now I prefer IGN. New GameSpot is terrible.

what has happened to the week by week new releases please. Is there a option to change to the old layout please.

If this site had an integrity, they would admit to their mistakes and get rid of this horrible update. A damn shame how gamespot has changed for the worse. This was one of my go to sites for gaming news. Now, it's just a browser hiccup to navigate this horrendous new layout. The previous layout was perfect.

ok, the new design simply sucks, not to be a hater at all cos i used to like gamespot a lot, but how could a gamer on a games website NOT FILTER BY GENRE?!? thats fuckin insane... what if i wanna see the best games on a particular genre... its what i came here for most of the time... fellow gamers could anyone advice on a better games website? i dont like ign that much either...

Everybody makes mistakes. What defines us is how we handle them. There are possibly millions of readers who are depending on you to do the right thing. Please, I implore you. Please provide a link to the previous site design. Accept the fact that this design is an epic fail in its current state. Improve it all you want to, but please provide a link to the previous design for those of us who prefer it.

This is the worst thing I've ever seen happen to a website. What on Earth possessed you people to ruin the Gamespot site? This is a complete and utter trainwreck. I have been with you guys since the beginning and now I am leaving. This is one of the saddest days of my life. I used to rely on your site for all of my game information. And you had to go and do this. Whatever happened to the principle of sticking with what works? You want to play, go do it on your own time. Don't go ruining everything for everybody with your crapped out design testing.

Sorry, guys, but the new redesign is a disaster. I just spent over a half hour trying and failing to figure out how to do a search on the new site, before googling for an answer and hitting this page. This is something that should be straightforward and in your face easy or at least readily findable by searching for the word "search" on the page. This site was always way more difficult to use than it should have been due to clunky, slow and counterintuitive design. You've fixed nothing while making the old problems exponentially worse to the point I feel forced to use a competitor whose site is harder to use than your old design but better than this. I simply cannot find the information I want on this site without doing a Google search now. The information I want is reviews and information on games in a simple, fast and easy-to-read format.

Just a terrible redesign. Reads like a cheap auto generated site versus a online magazine.

Gamespot used to be my homepage. Since redisign, I dont even go there once a week. It's sad! Worst website redisign ever! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! So long Gamespot!

I thought GS died when Gertsmann left,but i was so wrong.

I hate the new design. First of all they overwhelmed it with whatever and now the pages load like i'm on the previous century internet connection with a modem. Secondly when I'm using the website it's now like i'm playing a horribly illogical and thus very irratating quest game. All the user friendliness is gone. I now have to actually google to find some features.

They could have at least given the option of switching between the old and the new version, like other smart websites do.

Why does every great site eventually feel the need to "redesign" and ruin itself?

As far as I could tell, the old site got the job done, looked good doing it, and wasn't ridiculous to navigate. I don't want to be too harsh, but please tell me we aren't stuck with this ugly, inefficient version. -.-

This new website is horrible. I hate it. I can't find what I am looking for. For example, where are the "Top 10" and where are the "Top Games" for a specific platform or genre? And why the hell can't I post comments when using Firefox? It just won't let mi log in. I even had trouble with Chrome. I had to login 4 times till it worked. This website is a piece of §&)$!

What happened to all the old videos? Especially the old video reviews? Theyre all gone. Probably gone forever. That fucking sucks. I want to watch Geeeg Kasavins old reviews.

As an older gamer I want to cut through all the current noise and distraction and get to the reviews, which I can still do. But I cannot sort by Genre? This is crucial, no? And was present before.

I've found myself googling instead.
Which is fine as I've recently found a lot of great games and reviews, but I know it was not your intention to turn me away.

I do enjoy all of you at Gamespot and think you all deserve to be cut a lot more slack. The marketing drives me up the wall but I understand you need to get paid. I hope my issue can and will be addressed.

I have to agree with the majority of comments I see below. I really, really do not like this new web design. I used to go to the top 10 video game page often. Now I can't even figure out what you've replaced it with. It's so poorly designed. This web design is horrible

Bring back the old game search and sorting options or at least give back the list of genres and fix logical search operators (now it is OR instead of AND) and I will forgive you.

Please!!! I beg you, do something about this horrible site, return us the old one or make this one better. It is so hard to use it, also i liked gamespot because i was able to see the upcoming games, and games released not so long before. The games of the week, was the best. Now I can't do any of this, upcoming games show me half of the already released ones and released ones are actually released a century ago. I BEG YOU, DO SOMETHING

Old version of GS was my first source of games, but with this hideous and horrible design, I even don't want to check it anymore!

WHERE IS GAME EMBLEMS ??????

I am not one that has a hard time with change. That said this site is really hard to navigate, difficult to figure out where things are and not very intuitive. I will try to give it a chance but not very successful so far!

i actually dont like a single thing about this new site. everything is made so its harder to find the things i was looking for, i am looking for a new gaming site.. Anyone has a good one i could use instead of this? a site with alot of content and more of the looks of gamespots old desgin?

It's been a month now since the New Gamespot was forced onto us and this site is still completely broken, lagging, with horrible design, broken game filtering and violation of user privacy by displaying everything we do in the public feed. I guess most people just come here to complain on the forums. And they say they would use competitor sites. What sites? IGN? The same mess. I was horrified when I saw Moby Games recent new design. It is as awful as the new Gamespot. And also totally broken. Can you imagine, Moby Games!? All major mainstream gaming sites look now like clones of some horrible and disfunctional mess. Welcome to Web 2.0. Welcome to Zombieland.
