Wet has been in development for who knows how many years. It was a game I thought might be worth the wait. Unfortunately, I was wrong. It is truly a shame too... there can never be enough games starring heroines who can really make an impression. But honestly, Rubi is more of a rip-off in sexy clothes... and the game's art on the cover looks better than the in-game model. Let's just see here: slo-mo ripped off of Max Payne, game style and over-the-top characters obviously ripped off (Gamespot calls it "inspired"... not hardly) from Quentin Tarantino movies Kill Bill and Roadhouse (which is really annoying, but thankfully has an option to turn off the 70's film grain junk), gun and sword gameplay ripped off of Devil May Cry games. Totally unoriginal. The music is the only truly original aspect of the game, and that isn't even that great.
As a third person action game, its pretty straight-forward. Run. Shoot. Jump & shoot (in slo-mo). Slide & shoot (in slo-mo). Hack and shoot. Rinse. Repeat. Anyone can pick it up and play it. Unfortunately, the targeting is grossly inaccurate, and its usually easier just to run up to them and hack them to death. Which means the gameplay gets repetitive and drab pretty quickly. Even with starts like Eliza Dushku (voice of Rubi) and Malcolm McDowell (voice of Rupert Pelham) providing decent voice-acting, it still falls short of an action game worthy of holding your attention for longer than 20 minutes. Rent it first, and if you really want it, get it off eBay or in the bargain bin for cheap... its definitely not worth $59.99... or even half that.
