Whiplash, or as I've known it in Europe, Fatal Racing is easily amongst the memorable games from the era with a very unique style at the time, great soundtrack and very enjoyable racetracks. Expect gravity-denying loops and corkscrews in the manner of Trackmania with a hint of derby racing. The car selection is made up of fantasy models resembling Toyota Corollas, Ford Escort Cosworths, Renault Meganes or other European cars come with unconventional skin liveries, such as the Venus team with its easily noticeable lime-purple colour.
The game delivers the death racing theme in a very children-friendly style, the point is not to make other cars burst into flames but to manage each jump and loop without falling into the death zone appropriately marked with skulls.
Quite a challenging game, staying alive isn't as easy as in most arcade driving games of today, so I recommend it not only for nostalgia, but also as a lecture for youngsters. I love this game since 6 years now, but I think it can be also enjoyable for others without the childhood memories attached to it.
