Just because you've had vanilla ice cream before and loved it, doesn't mean you totally stop eating it, does it?

White Knight Chronicles is a game that has been put into the genre many call the "JRPG". A Japanese RPG. Yes, one that was born and raised for the Land of the Rising Sun, but managed to make its way westward. Just like most every RPG that most people my age have been playing for the last 20 years!
That being said, White Knight Chronicles is GREAT!! There are parts that can be tedious and boring, but honestly any game can be if you have that type of attitude about it. Sure parts of the story are reminiscent of other games' stories you may have played in the past too; but that's fine!! Just because you've had vanilla ice cream before and loved it, doesn't mean you stop eating it altogether because you loved it, does it?
(And if that is the case, I call you a vanilla hater! ^_^)
This game has so much to it, I don't even know where to begin. A high-fantasy adventure begins with the attack of the castle town and kidnapping of the princess. Your heroes set out to save her, and the quest starts from there. You gain tremendous abilities and meet more characters along the way. There's even a way to interact with all the NPCs that you find in the game through the Georama! Yes, the addictive, distract you from the story play a console RPG online goodness mode that is known as Georama. Make your town, upgrade it and even benefit from it. All while leveling up your avatar to take along in the main quest.
Not to say there aren't some parts I'm not fully sold on. There are a few too many monsters in the fields of battle sometimes-which doesn't make it too hard, just too time consuming to fight them all. My main gripe though; I'm definitely NOT sold on the combat system. Only being able to pick and choose from the 18 or so slots that you can set abilities too is very limiting. The party AI is a little bit on the simplistic side too. They could just use a few more choices/options for you to choose from. The menus take a while to get used to navigating too. You have to move items from character to character to equip them, and then go from an "items" menu to the "equip" one to do that. Just an unnecesary step that should have been avoided.
All in all, White Knight Chronicles is a very good game that any RPG (or JRPG if you will) fan should at least check out. The story is good, there is a lot of substance to the game and it's a ton of fun.
Play White Knight Chronicles!!!
