Meh.

Wild Arms 2 was one of the first games I got for the Playstation- that is, one of the first games I, MYSELF recieved, as opposed to something I had to "share" with my older sister. And by "share" I of course mean "I got to WATCH her play."

Anyway, as one of the first few games my sister had no interest in and something that I actually was able to play well on my own (I was 10 years old and REALLY bad at the other games we had like B.F. Musashi and Army Men- games that required actual skill) Wild Arms 2 still holds a special place in my heart.

But it's not a game I could play through another time. It sits collecting dust for quite a few reasons.

The anime intro had really caught my eye when I was younger, I had also really liked the character designs. I still really like these things, but they are a little lackluster compared to some of the other games of the same time and definitely don't compare to many titles today.

The gameplay is rather boring. Going through dungeons feels more like a chore than fun. There are many random encounters, making it frustrating and tedious. I do really like the tool system they kept from the first Wild Arms: with this you can use each character's signature tools and switch to any character at any time on the field and use their tools to solve puzzles.

The battles are dull. I can't think of any memorable battles.

There are a few puzzles that I still remember being impossible for anyone to solve with out the official guide- puzzles where you have to hit a million things in a certain order to advance. Not a smart move in my opinion!

The characters are likeable (I STILL think Lilka's the coolest = P )but are never really truly fully developed- surprising considering how long the game is!

This game dissappoints me- mostly because it had potential to be a great RPG.
