An RPG worth playing, especially if you're a fan of Western Games.

This was my first Wild Arms game and I really enjoyed it. Although I had actually gotten this game a few years ago, I have recently just beat it.

The game starts out on a train carrying the main character of the game, a young girl named Virginia Maxwell. There is a break-in during her trip and she meets up with the three other characters. Gallows, a guy from an Indian-like tribe, Clive, a drifter looking to help others, and Jet, an anti-social punk who dislikes almost everything but money. As the story progresses, the characters slowly develop a friendship. Also, you get to learn a lot about each of the characters pasts. They soon find themselves in much more danger than originally inteneded when they end up battling 3 nutcases who want to change the people of the world into demons. Overral, the story is pretty interesting but sometimes gets a bit complicated. If you arent the type who likes to pay attention to game dialogues, then you really shouldnt play this game.

The gameplay is great and becomes way more exciting as you reach midway in the game. The first half of the game, especially the very beginning, is slow and not exciting. The battles in the beginning dont take much strategy. All you need is a thumb so you can constantly jam the X button to shoot. Once you start getting new mediums and new medium equipment, the game really gets good. You get to use the characters the way you want to without any restrictions. Depending on what kinds of mediums and items you equip them with, they can all be equally powerful or terribly off balance. Once you set up the characters the way you like, battles get interesting and fun.

The graphics and music are great. The cell-shading looks fantastic and the variety of different music keeps you interested. Some of the action sequences that dont occur in battle are pretty stiff, but they wont distract you from the fun of the game.

The one major problem in this game is the smallness of the towns. The towns are ridiculously small and there are an average of 5-7 people per town, this counts shop owners. However, after major events, every person in everytown gets new dialogue unlike other RPGs I've played.

The extras in this game like optional dungeons and bosses are very fun and challenging. They bosses are much more difficult and require a lot more strategy than the main game bosses. The dungeons are also more difficult because of the puzzles that become more challenging.

Overall, this game was great fun and worth the time of beating it.
