Wild Arms: 7 out of 10

User Rating: 7 | Wild Arms PS
Graphics: The graphics for Wild Arms are the old polygons of yesteryear. The maps and overworld graphics are simplistic but classic. The battle graphics are very original. Wild Arms used completely 3D battle graphics in a time when everyone else used 2D graphics. While it might not have been perfect it was a big step in RPG history. 2 out of 2 for Graphics.

Sounds: The music in Wild Arms is fairly catchy and will keep your volume up but the sound effects were nothing spectacular. 1 out of 2 for Sounds.

Gameplay: As far as gameplay goes Wild Arms is fairly plain. Each of the three characters have magic or special abilities that are in every RPG, but the game does have some unique out of battle devices. Each character finds Tools which help solve puzzles on the maps and the game uses a storytelling system similar to the one in Suikoden III. The Player can switch between the three characters at any time, even when they aren't together. 2 out of 2 for Gameplay.

Storyline: The storyline of Wild Arms isn't original by any measure but it IS deep and done very well. It does it's job and will keep you playing to find out what happens next. Three, similingly random people, come together by chance to save the world from evil. You play as Rudy, the orphan boy who wields the forbidden ARMS, Jack, an Indiana Jones like outlaw, and Cecilia, a young magic wield girl, as you uncover a plot to destory mankind. 2 out of 2 for Storyline.

Misc.: Unfortunatly Wild Arms doesn't offer much in the way of mini games or sidequests. Not to say they aren't there but the game just doesn't have a lot of replayablility. 0 out 2 for Misc.

Overall: There is no one thing that stands out about Wild Arms but when you put it all together the game is actually very good. Everything the game does it does very well. RPG fans should diffently play this one, even some non RPG fans may find this one fun. 7 out of 10 for Overall.
